MANCHESTER UNITED are one of a host of European clubs hot on the trail of Danish wonder-kid Martin Bergvold. The 18-year-old is currently starring for his nation's Under-18 and Under-19 sides and he is attracting a great deal of attention.
The youngster's contract at FC Copenhagen expires on July 1st, and the Danish giants are understandably anxious to hang on to their teen star.
"All the big clubs in the whole of Europe are after him," his agent Benny Nielsen revealed to planetfootball.com.
"His contract with FC Copenhagen expires on July 1st and they are trying to keep him.
"He is the best young player in Denmark and all the big clubs know him."
A host of club's watched the left sided Bergvold star for the Danish Under 19 side in Greece last week and they will be present again when he plays for the younger Under 18 side in Holland on March 6.
"He is playing in Holland next week and almost every club will be there to watch, many Premiership clubs want him," said Nielsen, who then revealed that United's interests stems back three years.
"Three years ago Martin was the star for the Danish side in a summer tournament and Manchester United invited Martin for a trial after seeing him, but at 15-years-old we refused this.
"Another player, Mads Timm accepted the invitation and signed for them.
"But now Martin has just turned 18 and he is ready to move on now.
"He likes English football, because during the winter in Denmark, English football is live and so he knows it very well.
"Martin has progressed very well over the last two years and now we are just waiting for the right club to make an offer.
"Some clubs we have already told that he will not move there, because we want him to be part of the first team squad. We are not saying he should be in the first eleven, but he should be part of the first 20 or so.
"Money is not a factor, only that it is the right club, if you are good enough you will always get the money anyway."
Nielsen also stated that Bergvold could stay in the Danish capital.
"They really want him to stay and we are continuing to talk to them."
Copenhagen are still confident that they can convince Bergvold that his future should remain at Parken.
