Most Games are played with ONE Ball but the REAL g
We need another striker to give us more options upfront. So why not go for Viduka. We play the 4-4-1-1 formation, right, so he could fit in and give us cover for RVN and even more options. He is strong, excellent skills and good finisher. Besides we could get him on a price cut.

He is not good enough. He scores pity few goals every season by the standard of a main centre striker.

Oh for goodness sake!!

We need a younger, fitter, and talented striker for the future. I can't believe anyone would sacrifice Ole for that tub of lard.

Why not Heskey? At least he really looks younger and fitter! :D

As Dunphy said about Hartson last Thursday - "he has a touch of the Phoenix Parkes about him".

No Mr Ridsdale we are not giving you any more cash to bail out your so called football club, although i appreciate the irony of you posting under the name of Cantona.

Thats offensive...on his day Viduka can be a first class striker...remember Viduka and Smithy helping Leeds to the semis of teh Champs League

and not so long ago teams like Real Madrid were willing to spend 20 million on him.

I actually agree with Cantona, his goal return could be better but he is more of an all round striker, he would open up space for Ruud and he is good in the air which no one else in the Utd side could profess to be, he is quick with his feet and is a good finisher, strong and built like a mack truck!

:D

If my post was favouring Vieri, no of you guys should complain  No age factor, no price factor and hell not even weight factor Every one  let me say almost everyone should praise what a wonderful signing he would be not realizing the fact that Viduka is almost the same type of player as Vieri. I remember Capello describing this when Viduka was linked to Roma.

where was he when Leeds were sliding down the table under Venables? Sulking. We need players who turn it on throughout the season, not just when they feel like it. At his best he is very good. At his worst he is abysmal.

To be fair to Viduka, the whole team were in the dumps because of all the chopping & changing of the management team & the selling of the top players & that's why they are where they are, so he cannot be blamed for Leeds' downfall.

And in further defence of him, he did go on a fantastic goal run of 14 goals in Leeds' last 11 matches when Reid managed to stabilise the ship & not only scored the winner against Arsenal, but wondefully created Kewell's 2nd chance against the Gunners which the latter spurned. ( how many of us were willing Leeds to win & deep in our hearts, were turning to Viduka & Kewell to make it happen? ;) )

Viduka's only 27+, is tall ( 6ft 2ins ) & a very good targetman, can score lots of goals, having 59 in 134 games for Leeds in all competitions & 21 times in 40 games this season, a very good return by any striker's standard!

Whether he is suitable to play for Utd or whether we want him is another matter, but I just wanted to lay the stats for those who might not actually know of his record. :)

Being an Australian I am a big fan of his, but Viduka would be useless to us. He is the same kind of player as Van Nistelrooy, except Ruud is slightly better at almost everything (barring heading and long shots). So he wouldn't be able to play with Ruud, and he's too good to be a bench player.

On a slightly different tangent - I may get blasted for this, but I actually feel Viduka at his best is better than Ruud at his best. He is just able to be more individually brilliant, and can score goals from outside the 18 yard box as well as being a good poacher. However (and this is a big however), Ruud is consistently a lot closer to his best while the V-Bomber is always going through ups and downs. Also Ruud can still play a very important part of our team when he is going through a rough patch, whereas when Viduka has a bad spell he is almost useless.

ruud at his best has an intensity that doughboy viduka cant compete with.
you lot said Vidmar was better than Rio after the international game not so long ago so excuse me if i dont jump up

Vidmar better than Rio

Besides Kewell (and to a lesser extent Viduka), the only Australian even close to Man Utd quality is Emerton (and no, I'm not advocating getting him ).

Viduka isn't close to being in the same class as Ruud as a player. But on those rare occasions when he's at his best he is awesome. A lot of non-Man Utd fans underestimate Ruud, thinking that he can't create or dribble. Viduka is underestimated in the same way, he is actually quite skillful and tricky.

Mark Viduka is an extreamly under estimated striker, he might look large but he is not fat contrary to popular belief, he has exceptional control and is awesome in the air so do not be so quick to dismiss him, I have thought he would possibly fit in well to the side and as some of us might remember we nearly bought him before he went to Celtic.
