He finally showed up today....credit where credit is due.
If I was Amorim id have made a rare exception to the idea of avoiding social media as a player and instead sit him down and have him read some of the criticism in here. And then just ask him the simple question: is this who you are or want to be? No? Then get the feck out there and show us what you can do.

Did well for his goals and barely anything outside of it. But hey, it works for Haaland and if Rashford can a score a goal every game and we end up winning those games then I have absolutely no problem with it.

Then they cry on each others shoulders Kitchen Nightmare style. Then Ruben renovated his house with a fresh and modern architecture.

It's a shame that he can't seem to find or show enjoyment in his football, he scored two good goals but couldn't raise a smile its a pity.

The inside forward role seems to suit him to a tee. He's not that far on the left wing that he needs to rely on peace and trickery which he seems to have lost. Close enough to goal to make it count in terms of evading tackles and scoring goals without being the target man.

Really hope Amorim isnt delusional like our previous managers and keeps this guy based off a few good matches. Need much better in his position (and for his wages) to compete for major titles

I wonder if your grandparents can press as they did 20 years ago

It's the partnership with Zirkzee. Hojlund as the 9 and Rashford as that inside forward type #10 doesn't work as Hojlund likes to stretch the line. Zirkzee likes dropping so Rashford works best with him. Garnacho works best with Hojlund, and the other attacker there is the Bruno or Mount style 10. Early days but seems like Amorim definitely sees and understands how each player compliments the other.

Still think we should move him on at the earliest opportunity. You can get such a better player for his wages or even half of it.

Was good yesterday, 2 goals is very good outcome for an attacking player.
I think playing next to Amad will help, having a player next to you that notice your runs and puts it on a plate for you will encourage you to run more.

No reason to be facetious. Clearly nothing else works and he made it clear himself he thinks all the social media criticism is inappropriate. You can't tell me he doesn't read some of this.

This is the first time I've even clicked into this thread in a long time because I was shit sick of his terrible performances and the negativity that surrounded them. Delighted that he bagged a couple of goals, he still doesn't look anywhere near his best but it would be massive for us if he can hit a prolonged period of form.

Amorim would do well to get something out of Rashford this season, raise his stock and move him on in the summer. He was good v Everton as he had space to run into. He wont get that against every team and he is not technical enough, fit enough, smart enough or good enough on the ball to play in a number 10 role. Certainly not anything like how Goncalves and Trincao did for Amorim at Sporting.

I love the bitterness of these posts and there have been quite a few of them. People who hate him can't even be happy he scored and want him to be successful here but would rather go hopefully it just means he gets sold sooner

It's a strange phenomenon for sure...

Everton - famously one of the few teams in the league to play a high defensive line.

Rashford was rightfully critisised as his performances and effort were not good enough. Some of the hate frome some is still way over the top.

I'm glad he's showing progress now and I'm optimistic that Amorins System will help him to get in better positions regularly. It's also a good sign that he will more be a part of the squad and contribute rather then this undroppable "face of the club".

Looking forward to this festive period with him as a part of the squad/team.

Zero bitterness. I would love Rashford to succeed. It just wont happen in an Amorim 3-4-2-1. He doesn't have the profile to play in any position.

If you have seen Amorim's Sporting over the last few years, i would love to know the position that fits Rashford's skill set.

He scored two goals yesterday in this formation. Of coure the system was adapted a bit to Zirkzes and Rashfords strength but a good coach is able to do exactly that imo.

I definitely can see a long term role in this Amorim squad for Rashford as he can bring something to the Team that none other squad member does. But as I said above, he should never be undroppable again just because of his name or wages and I assume that will not be the case either with Amorim.

He’s basically best suited to the Werner role under Tuchel: Let him run into the space while a striker drops off.

If he can get some consistent finishing going he’ll be very useful, but I think he needs to be tied to Zirkzee as a pair

He’s never been undroppable. Like any other player, he gets chosen based on form of both him and others in the squad. He was dropped for a spell around this time last year before making his way back into the team with a series of fairly strong performances around Xmas/NY. He was also dropped by Rangnick when struggling post operation and again was in and out of the team earlier this season. The only times he has been undroppable are when he’s made himself so with his performances.

He fits it a lot better than Bruno for one

As the manager, the people who work under you don’t have to like you and they don’t have to blindly do whatever you say either, especially if what you’re asking doesn’t work. That’s why it’s called management, you need to manage people otherwise you’ll get fired, and that isn’t because if player power or whatever other cliches you want to throw out, it’s just piss poor management.

And you can complain about players being self interested but what about the managers we’ve had post Fergie? They all only cared about their reputations more than the club or the players. Most of them wanted the entire squad sold at different points because the players didn’t believe in their bullshit systems anymore. Would you run through a brick wall for someone trying to bolster their CV at your expense while they’re failing miserably?
I get your point but the manager needs to be the authority and the players are the employers, you might not agree at times what is asked from you but you still need to to your job still. I highly disagree with you that you need to motivate them to actually do their job. Case in point Rangnik...players knew he has no power and most likely he will be gone within a year ,noone took him serious while most of what he complained about was proven right in hindsight.

I'm pleased he scored and hope he has a brilliant rest of the season, however, we've been here before with Ole and EtH so I'm not sold on him.

If Amorim can keep him motivated, great, but I don't believe he can (based on the evidence of the past few years), and the issue with not selling him when the opportunity comes is if he drops into his sullen, aloof self again, we're stuck with an influential player in the dressing room whose poor attitude could affect others and scupper what Ruben is trying to achieve.

Thing is a fired up Rashford is one of the most potent goal threats in the league. It's a shame that this version has been rather seasonal

It’s weird how all of Marcus’s poor form has just been reduced to this perception of attitude issues and not caring. His shown multiple times over the years he does care and honestly I can see why he appears unhappy at times with the amount of abuse he had to deal with, especially post missing in the penalty shootout.

To say he has no talent and can’t be effective in multiple positions and systems has already been proven invalid in these last 3 games. His issue has generally been consistency. With the injuries and mental issues he has had fluctuations in form are not surprising even if it’s still disappointing at times.

I’m just hoping he can play free and with enjoyment now as I think that’s when his at his best. I’m hoping Rubén’s way with people can bring this about.

Can you explain more? Why is Garnacho better with Hojlund?

Despite the goals, the biggest question mark on him for me is the lack of pressing, and ability to fight for 50-50 balls. Without this, he disturbs the balance of the team and I am sure if his output will be good enough anymore for him to not do his share of work.
