I do not see any physical decline. Looks like he's given up.

I don't think it's a decline physically. Just think he cannot be bothered. Genuinely. The fact the response to the criticsm, lack of form, losing his England place - has been to walk around the pitch looking incredulous the world hasn't given him a Ballon d'Or yet, to me sums him up as a player
I think his technical limitations have come home to roost. He's a "kick and chase" merchant mainly, who does his best work in space, players have gotten better at defending him. This has subsequently eroded his confidence.

I highly doubt psg will be at all interested. I think it would be closer to Everton.
I tend to agree. I don't think anyone outside of England is going sign him. Our best bet is a PL bottom half club which play counter attack most weeks AND hope to increase their status/make a statement by signing soneone like MR.

Or Chelsea.

Which of those do you think could get anywhere near his wage packet?

He needs to leave. Both parties need a break and he needs a fresh start somewhere else.

If someone is stupid enough to pay anything close to 75m we should take it and run.

Sad to see his drop in performance. He should be used as a backup #9 because he just doesn't have the trickery amd decision making for his LW role (at least Garnacho is young and could learn).

It's not exactly a hard call though is it, fan sentiment is on the floor, the same as his recent performances....

Why do people think he holds so much power? Rashfords career here will sort itself out unless you think we're still run by morons....

One the last manager wasn't able to make. I still believe he is protected within the club and will stop believing this when I see something that points to the contrary. Like being dropped, and I don't mean one game, or sold.

He’s clearly performing at a much lower level than previous years but does anyone think a small part of it is down to the game changing slightly in his career span?

The game is more regimented than ever. In his first years the PL was still transitioning to the current approach. You can’t have any passengers and your attack needs to be all workhorses.

When you watch him it feels like he doesn’t fit in with the modern game. A few years ago you maybe had 5-6 teams playing how they do now, but now everyone is playing the same way.

And this probably sounds silly when you consider he’s still relatively young and the short length of his career but he sticks out like a sore thumb - a complete individual in an increasingly team game

It's been known for years, and yet he was always "head down kick and run" kind of player, what brought him a lot of goals as he is still a good finisher in certain situations.
The thing is, he's not even trying anymore, just "get the ball, turn, pass back, jog on".

Amorim's time might end up being determined on how he handles this. Shouldn't be starting at all and should be replaced by a class winger in the summer.

I firmly believe how he handles, or is allowed handle, Rashford will define whether Amorim succeeds or fails at United.

If 12, 18, 24 months from now, we're still labouring under the fantasy that Marcus is a world class player who's just going through a bad patch, then forget about this club progressing into genuine title defenders.

He needs to be moved on as a matter of urgency and a top class replacement brought in. The improvement will be instant, we'll be asking ourselves why we didn't do it years earlier.

Still think he will retire young some day around 30-32 years of age. Unless Amorim can unlock something in him, he’s not going be at this club too much longer.
After Tuchel told him he could get an England spot back if his form warranted it. Good luck with that.

That contract was a massive mistake. He'll have 3 years left on the deal at the end up the season, meaning close to £50m in outstanding wages. Getting rid of him is going to be much more difficult than Sancho.

Should've sold him when his stock was high. He's nowhere near it now, can't see anyone being stupid enough to take on his wages and give us a fee.

If we're playing Amorim's 3-4-3, I don't think we even need a direct replacement. We can probably just sell and use the money to strengthen other areas.

I think Bruno, Amad, Garnacho, Mount, Eriksen, Zirkzee are plenty of options for the two spots behind the striker in that system.

Said this in the match day thread
Rashford has lost something and it’s not the “spark in his eyes/fire in his belly” garble people always throw about.

There’s something physically diminished about him now. Hes lost the ability to create separation. Even against the most mid fullbacks.

The ball goes to him and I no longer expect anything. No sensible manager would build around this version of Rashford. Shame cos I have a soft spot for him.

It’s smarter to assume he won’t turn things around than to burden Amorim with the job of “Fixing Rashford”

He has a 2.5 year contract. Why waste time on the enigma that’s Rashfords inconsistent form ( he’s probably been more consistently poor)

Very bad performance by Rashford today, he was decent earlier in the season and had some good games but he just reverted to type and is back to being shite again.

Same as Sancho. Take £25-30m and run with it.
Agree. We're not getting more than that, especially given his wage demands. He's 27 so in his prime (in theory) so perhaps there'll be a club that believe Rashford can reinvent himself there.

If he wasn't on massive wages, think he'd be good enough as squad option. I actually think he's been decent this season so far, certainly better than last season.

He needs to leave, and it’s a two way thing.

He’s of no use to United playing like this and it’s clear he looks consumed by everything. Everything is laboured. Everything is hard work. He needs to find a new club.

Problem is without the pace which he has seemingly lost he hasn’t got much else in the locker. Not a particularly good dribbler, doesn't create enough, not a good passer and movement is poor. Unless he’s carrying an injury I think he’s busted and needs to go.

Would not shock me.

He just looks miserable all the time. Other than a period of about 2 or 3 months in ETH's first season he's looked like he hates football ever since the fallout of the Euro 2021 final and all the disgusting abuse he got.

Looks like he's fell out of love with football.

He had a decent-ish start to the season tbh but the last few games he’s looked really really poor.

He is my favourite Utd player and I hate seeing him like this.

Yeah I agree since 2021 Euros.

In the words of G Nev, somethings not quite right with him.

PR has a nasty habit of ruining pretty much everything it touches, and while it can't be proven, I think there's a good case that it's ruined Marcus Rashford. Once he did the school lunches thing, they jumped on him and it's not really Rashford you're dealing with more, it's the Rashford-PR-Complex. He likely has a load of people around him that don't tell him the truth, because their only goal is the maximisation of the brand. What's more, it doesn't even seem to be paying off for him as he just looks miserable most of the time. Maybe the burden is the weight of carrying Rashford the brand day in day out. I feel sorry for him, as IMO he has (had?) the tools to be a premier league great.

Agreed. He looked pissed off under Rangnick, but I thought that could be explained away as most players didn't enjoy playing under that manager. However he's almost-permanently had a face like a slapped arse for the past 3 years. I predict he will likely stick around as a squad player until his contract runs out in 2028 and he will retire shortly afterwards.

Even the rare occasions he's scored, outside of that golden period under ETH, he never looks particularly happy or pumped up.

He looks like someone doing a regular 9-5 job.

His general game intelligence is really lacking apart from his ability to make runs in behind. This has become less effective as teams are well aware of that threat now in addition to him maybe having lost a half yard of pace. That in combination with his generally poor first touch, passing, and complete lack of any physicality or ability to win duels mean that he has become a one trick pony. He used to at least have relatively dangerous 1v1 skills but those seem to be more and more the exception rather than the norm in his performances.

This makes him sound like a 33 year old veteran still finding his way in the modern game.

For context Welbeck is outperforming him. Simply by having good fundamentals while selectively applying his natural speed given his age and injury history.

I mean to be fair to him how many of us have been?

I really think the most obvious thing about him is he's lacking confidence and has been for a year and a half and like many players has been used weirdly by ten Hag. He has 6 months to save his United career, and I'm not sure many would back him to do it.
