Maradona slagging Beckham

Just going threw the rag reports at the official MU site and came across this crackheads half-baked opinion on Beckhams performance at the World Cup.

He says Beckham had let England down.

First of all, how the feck would he know if Beckham let England down...He lives on another corner of the planet. How would he know the general feelings of the English ppl?

The short piece ends with something like...'I don't see the big deal with all the beckham-mania, I don't see him holding the trophy...'

what AN ASSHOLE!

He's a fat has-been coke-snorting crack-head who needs some publicity.

He mentions Bex's name and he's in the papers.

Great player in his prime but he's certainly tarnished his image in the past few years.

He should fade away into obscurity gracefully.

How can a coke head who was banned from the World Cup causing much heartache in his native country talk shit about a 75% fit player that gave his all for his country?

Maradona just thinks the world of himself. Schmuck.

Its sad to see a player like Maradona get so fat, develop a drug habit, and spend his days socializing with a dictator. His great place in football history is in jeopoardy right now.

To be fair to Maradona, he is indeed a magnificent player. One of the best. But I guess he is merely jealous at the amount of attention and money that Beckham is earning. It must really be hard for maradona, knowing very well that Beckham is not even in his class but earns much more than him. If the fat man has let his football do more talking rather than his off the field nonsense, he might have possibly be rememebered well in history. Go get a life, fat man.

I wouldn't say that. He'll always be remembered by those who saw him play as the the greatest player there ever was. It's as though he's another person now - one that we don't need to know about anymore.

He was also slagging the Brazil team and Ronaldo as average and lucky to win the world cup.
If you see Maradonas "off field record" over the years, it is all very sad. He is without a doubt one of the best footballers ever, but probably he is also one of the most stupid footballers ever.

Maradona may a fat cokehead, but what he says is not far off the mark, Beckham is a great player but was dissapointing in the world cup. And ALL the England players let England down in the end.

But half weren't fit! Lack of heart and boring tactics aside I don't think they let us down quite as badly as you suggest.

Fat boy's probably jealous about the Beckham's haircut..... ;)

feck me, those bloody haircuts are really all the rage. Some bloke came into work with his hair like that the other day (and on every day since). I said to him, in all seriousness with a hint of piss taking, because let's face it, copying Beckham like that is poncey teenage shit and this guy's 30 odd, I said "Frank, what the feck have you done that to your hair for?" He didn't smile at me put it that way.

so how come when players like best and maradona, who were on a higher footballing level than beckham will ever be, comment they are jealous.

why not maybe they have a point, beckham good passer, crosser (what happened last season on the w/class crossing ability, apart from that over hyped.

he cannot be mentioned in the same breath as ronaldo, zidane, rivaldo, or Raul.

i forgot to mention good freekcik taker as well

he can't really use left foot, doesn't score as many goals as his potential hype suggest. he also cant dribble.

quote "he can't really use left foot, doesn't score as many goals as his potential hype suggest. "

He scored 15 goals last season. That`s a pretty much for a wild midfielder; he isn`t a striker. This right foot was the best goal provider for ManUTD and in for the last 5 years.
By the way have you ever seen Roberto Carlos doing something with his right foot? I´ve never heard something like he has only a left foot.

"so how come when players like best and maradona, who were on a higher footballing level than beckham will ever be, comment they are jealous."

They are not jealous about his football level, but about his money and his fame. By the way this Best quote is three years old. I can remember he said a few months ago that beckham is a great england captain and a wonderful player.
Many alltime greats like Beckenbauer, Cruyf or Pele have said in the past that Beckham is one of their favourite players, but sadly it creates more attention in the news if someone said sonething negative.

Beckham is without a doubt overhyped. If you believe everything that is written about him you could think he is god. He is not the best or most complete footballer of the world. But an in form and fully fit becks is worldclass, together with (an in form and fit) Figo ther best right sided midfielder in the world and the best best english player since Robbo. Who thinks otherwise is just ignoring the facts. Even in a so called "shit-form" at the worldcup he took part at 4 out of 6 England goals.

Don't focus on what Becks can't do, focus on what he can.

When Becks is on form, and hits a cross, he causes mayhem in the penalty area - there's a very good chance there'll be a goal at the end of it. (In the Treble year, he had the highest number of assists (joint top with Yorke).)

He is hardly ever injured.

He is possibly the best freekick taker in the world - if not the best, certainly in the top 3 or so.

He is one of the top 2 or so most accurate long passers in the world - to quote Gregory , "he could pass the ball into a bucket from anywhere on the pitch." That is a very rare talent.

He is an extremely hard worker, he is a big game player, and his level of performance has usually been consistently high.

Taken together, it's why he is considered one of the world's top 3 players, and why he is always mentioned by experts in the same breath as Figo, Zidane etc.

Him, and others, not being fully fit and SGE's tactical naivety let England down.

You can't blame Bex for our demise, if you do, we may as well blame Stevie G too.

I've lost all respect for Maradonna as a person after his drug issue. I actually saw him play on TV recently and he is FAT and slow! He runs out of breathe so quick it's not even funny.

Anyway, to take a swipe at Bex and Brazil? What is he thinking? He must've been on coke when they interviewed him!!

Maradona is hardly jealous of Becks, either ability or money wise.
Maradona was obscenely rich when he was at Barca and Napoli, he was earning sums that were unprecedented at the time. He'll go down as one of the greatest players ever, Becks, as good as he is, will not.

Nor will any current English player for that matter. Beckham will likely be remembered as the best English player of his generation though.

Can you say Maradonna and Pele act like true professionals do? Tou can about Beckham! The 2 best players ever on Earth just search for publicity! They're talents gone, they've spent what they earned, they should deal with it.
