My Squad:-
Gaolies-
Fabien Barthez
Roy Carroll
Tim Howard/Rustu/Ricardo(given in preferred order)
Defenders-
Gary
Phill
Ferdinand
Samuel/Thuram/Ayala(Given in preferred order)
Brown
O'shea
Silvestre

Beckham
Keane
Fortune
Butt
Seba Veron
Ricardo Quaresma
Forwards-
Giggs
Scholes
Ronaldinho
Nistelrooy
Solskjaer
Forlan
----New signings
1. Escude-> 3-4 m young full back can play both on right and left and has decent attacking ability.
2. Ronaldinho-> 15-20m , 23 year old flare player. Great talent but would like to see him on the bench at the moment. Could replace Giggs or Scholes.
3. Quaresma-> 8m huge talent, next Beckham and Figo together. Ole being our only other forward after ruud should be the forward only, that would leave Quaresma the back up for Becks and he is someone who could replace him in 5 years time.
4. Samuel/Thuram/Ayala-> 10m/8m/4m this player needs no explanation one will get it every where in the forum.

Few points. Would Mexes and Baraja come to warm the bench when they could waltz in to any first team in the land. And what has Scholes done to deserve a demotion? As for Roche, well he's being released I'm afraid.

Guys let's be realisitc we aint gonna sign 5 0r 6 players and we dont need 5 or 6 players. At the moment paper gossip is dominating our minds and we really have to wait until fergie and keynon name their specified targets.

The one relaistic worry is the possible sale of beckham and to a lesser extent barthez to fund new signings.

A new experienced centre back is needed as is a pacy attacking player. Thuram and Kewell get my votes.

Finally leaving scholes out of ur team is laughable.

My United squad (money is not an issue)...
GK- Barthez (remains for 1 more season)
LB- Silvestre
CB- Ayala (all we need is 3 quality seasons)
CB- Ferdinand
RB- Gazza (O'Shea starts if Gazza is out)
LW- Giggs
DM- Keane
AM- Veron
RW- Becks
ST- Shevchenko
ST- RVN

Second team:
GK- Howard/Steele
LB- O'Shea/Phil/Escude
CB- Mexes/Silvestre
CB- O'Shea (Brown out for a while)
RB- O'Shea/Escude/Phil
LW- Kewell/Quaresma
DM- Butt/Fortune
AM- Scholes
RW- Quaresma/Solskjaer
ST- Ole/Kewell
ST- Forlan/Bellion

I personally believe in the Premiership, hopefully, being optamistic anyway, we will line up like this:

----------------Howard-------------------------
G.Neville----Rio----Thuram----O'Shea----------
Beckham--Keane---Scholes-----Giggs-------------
------------Ronaldinho-------------------------
---------------RVN-----------------------------

Subs:
Quaresma
Silvestre/Wes
Ricardo
Veron
Solskjaer

So thatd be:

Out:
Barthez - 8 million
Chadwick- 2 million
Webber - 1 million
Forlan? - 5 million

In
Ronaldinho - 10 million
Howard - 2 million
Quaresma - 10 million
Thuram - 8 million

A little harsh perhaps, i mean its optamistic to to hope for 4 players, i know, but im in an optamistic mood ;)

Obviously hoping for Thuram is a little hopeful.

Oh well...we'll have to wait and see.

are you still here?

1. Squad B is hypothetical becasue Man Utd has a first team of up to 18 players.

2. Scholes has not been relegated to the bench. Lets be honest in the first few games Ronny is likely to start. But Remeber alot of games will suit Scholesy in the hole with Ronaldiho on the right and Veron behind them. Others would be better with Scholes Behind Ronny with no Veron. Others like that veron less mathc with ?Madrid would be best with Ronny and Giggsy on the wings with Scholes infront of Baraja and Keano. Just the defensive way Fergie wouuld like it now. so he is not a second teamr. Just part of the 18 man first team.

3. About Mexes and O'shea. Face it! Wes, Gary and Silvestre are a bit too injury prone. Hence Mexes who can lay any where along the back like O'shea would also be foirst teamer's

4. Baraja. Would start with Keano away from home in the champions league. Would help us close games out by coming off the becnh to partner or replce Keano/Veron. Also His presence along with Ronnie, and quaresma would help give Becks, Keano and Giggs rests that they have lacked in previous seasons. Resulting in higher performances. Now Imagine if they reached the performance levels of
99' Talk of World dormination.

What did his case do?

This is what my Championship Manager team looks like:

Bartez

G.Neville Rio Silvestre

Becks Zidane Veron Giggsy

Ronaldinho

RVN Saviola

Yea i know it would never happen (wrong formation, players) and that some people might complain about the fact that Scholes and Keane are not there but not bad eh :p :D

would you like a sandwich or maybe beverage while you wait sir?

------------------Barthez----------------------
------------------Howard------------------------

G.Neville---Gallas----Silvestre-----O'Shea------
P.Neville---Brown-----Ferdinand-----Silvestre---

Beckham-----Keane-----Scholes-------D'Alessandro-
Quaresma----Butt------Veron---------Richardson---
Fletcher----Fortune---Neumayr-------Forlan

------------Van Nistelrooy---Giggs---------------
------------Solskjaer--------Timm----------------

Ins Quaresma/D'Alessandro/Gallas

We probably won't sign him, but I predict he will be a "massive" player for whatever club he goes to. Remember this isn't basketball, height isn't everything

What? When the 'ell did I ever say I was 'anti-Allesandro'? I simply suggested he would be better suited to a less physical league, but I also voiced my respect for him. He's a great player. Of course you didnt read that part.

apologies, I thought you were offering money to every united fan if we sign D'Alessandro because you don't rate him. Fact is we are probably unlikely to sign him since South American rarely come to England as their breakthrough to European leagues, which is why we are trying to establish links with Sporting Lisbon as a stepping stone club. Exciting prospect if it works

Er, wrong again. I was speaking realistically, saying it is almost certain D'Allesandro is not on our agenda. Saying I dont rate him is quite frankly too simplistic.

How can some of you immediately promote Howard as first choice keeper when till last month, hardly anyone knew of him, he's never played 1st class football & not even 1st or 2nd choice keeper for the US?

My 1st team squad, for all its worth :

Rustu or Barthez if he stays, Carroll, Ricardo.

Gary, Wes, Rio, Tweety, O'Shea, Phil, Lucio.

Becks, Kewell/Ronaldinho, Veron, Fortune, Keano, Scholes, Giggs, Butt, Fletcher.

Ole, Forlan, Ruud.

Signings :

If Barthez really goes, then Rustu for me - very experienced & 2nd best keeper in the 2002 WC following a very good 2000 EC, big & strong( 6ft 2in, 76kg ), commanding, great shot-stopper & comes free & wouldn't demand the highest salary. Very good age for a keeper at 30, with I reckon, at least 6 good years left in him.

Lucio - big & strong( 6ft 2in, 80kg ), great header of the ball, great at set pieces, very fast, great attacking flair, versatile ( can play CB or full-back equally comfortably), still young ( just turned 25 years old ) but already experienced at the very highest level, being a WC winner & UEFA Champions runners-up already!

Should be prepared to leave Bayer which just missed relegation & with no prospect of European football - appx £10 mil should suffice to tempt Bayer & lure him over.

Kewell or Ronaldinho - both very exciting with superb skills yet big & strong enough to take care of themselves, both with ability to turn a game & potential match-winners, both versatile enough to play alternatively as 2nd striker, both decent scorers, both young but with decent experience ( Kewell at 25, with UEFA Champions football behind him & Ronaldinho at 23, being a WC winner )

Kewell should be the cheaper alternative at £8 mil with Ronaldinho probably at £15 mil.

Total summer expenses will be £25 mil tops with 3 players coming in to add to the squad rather than be mere squad players to be hopefully groomed.

We can leave the grooming to the home-grown players - which we can build on seeing how they've just won the Youth Cup, the first time since '95 I believe - when we buy, it must be ready made, experienced class players - we can't afford to give excuses of not being experienced enough - there's enough experienced talent out there & with the slumped transfer market & with the vast funds available at OT, Utd cannot give the excuse we've been priced out of the market anymore!

There hasnt been much news about Real's Guti. I heard that he was unhappy coming off the bench in Real behind Ronaldo and even heard that he was interested in Man Utd (I think is was on Sky News). What do u guys think about him, could he fill our need for a 'Link man' ?

Guti is one player who hasnt been given the United-treatment to my knowledge. There are better, no Real rejects - only the best will do.

Like Christiansen right Weaste. ;)

And 7 outgoings. You get people like that on here from time to time. They're a bit eccentric.

I do hope he wasn't suggesting Gareth Barry of Aston Villa though.
