Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Onana
    Mazraoui DeLigt Yoro
    Dalot Bruno Ugarte Dorgu
    Eriksen Zirkzee
    Garnacho
We need some players back fit, if Collyer is fit I’d put him next to Ugarte and push Bruno found and bench Zirkzee.

Back to nervy and anxious Old Trafford. Got late late show wins at home Southampton,Leicester who are about the same level as Ipswich so hopefully fingers and toes crossed for a win as looking the remaining fixture list I don't see many more wins coming.

I can see that being the lineup but maybe Zirkzee up front instead of Garnacho. Rasmus and Casemiro have to be dropped and I think Maguire as well but he might get the nod ahead of Yoro.

I’m not confident we’ll win, maybe another 2-2.

We’ve just got so few options it’s ridiculous.

Wonder if Amorim will be tempted to give Obi a first start. He's getting next to nothing out of Hojlund.

Our recipe for mediocrity (takes 90 mins to prepare):

A terrible first half mixed with a slightly less terrible second, and finished with a drizzle of Amorim’s “honest” press conference.

Although they lost heavily to spurs in the end, judging by the highlights they showed the type of intensity we tend to struggle with. We'll need to play as we did 2nd half today

I’d expect us to be meek in the first half and then most likely be 1-0 down after about an hour. Then he’ll make a few subs and we’ll claw an equaliser back through something Bruno does and then the game is whether we can find a winner in the last 15 mins. Thats the status quo these days against any team that isn’t a top 6 side.

Win this and we’ll be on 33 points. It’s nigh on impossible to go down with that tally considering how staggeringly bad the promoted teams are these days, so at least there’s that.

I’m going for a very uncomfortable 2-1 win, which will sadly probably be one of our last ones in the league this season.

    Is Mazraoui injured?

    Onana
    Yoro - Maguire - Mazraoui/MDL
    Dalot - Bruno - Ugarte - Dorgu
    Zirkzee - Garnacho
    Hojlund

Tempted to try Heaven at LCB but I haven’t watched him at all. Not sure how he’d fare. I also thought about Eriksen in the RAM, and Zirkzee up top, but the team would really be lacking in pace upfront.

    Onana

    Yoro De Ligt Maz

    Garnacho Ugarte Bruno Dorgu

    Zirkzee Eriksen

    Obi
    This.
Garnacho providing width on the right is better than him and Dorgu clogging up on each other's space.
Can't play DeLigt as a left CB, he's just too poor on the ball for that.
Let's see if Chido can win duels against epl CBs. He looks big enough after all.

Must play Bruno deep in this one with Eriksen further forward. We’re lacking creativity badly and Eriksen is one of our best passers. Garnacho on the other side to make runs for Eriksens passes and try obi at the top.

Teams like Ipswich/leicester and Southampton all come to OT to play now. The days where teams came and sat back are long gone. So I’m expected another end to end game. We have to be CLINICAL.

Agree on Eriksen and Bruno deep.

Think it's too soon for Obi. 17 and starting a game as a 9 for United. Has it ever happened before?

No but what’s the worse that can happen? I mean it can’t be worse than what we’ve been watching with zirkzee and Hojlund. In my opinion he can only benefit from getting the chance to lead the line. No ones going to criticise him if it doesn’t work out or he shows he ain’t ready yet.

The team might not be worse off but we're seeing right now what happens to young players when you ask too much too soon. Hojlund, Garnacho and Mainoo, confidence absolutely wrecked. Especially Hojlund.

Starting Obi isn't just repeating the mistake, it's doubling down. He only turned 17 at the end of November.

    Unless they're truly special United's No.9 shouldn't be any younger than 23.

Still hoping we try Garnacho up top work Hojlund and Zirkzee on the bench. His finishing isn't great but he's always involved and dangerous.

Fair point. In that case we should try Garnacho upfront with zirkzee and Eriksen behind. At least Garnacho will make decent runs

Drop Casemiro, Dalot and absolutely drop Hojlund if we are serious about winning this game.
Can replace Casemiro and Hojlund but who do we play instead of Dalot? And before you say Garnacho on that side, he hasn’t tried that yet and don’t think he ever will.

Must win. It's our "easiest" game left at Old Trafford and regardless of how dire our home form has been - we can't not win this.

No point writing a team that I'd like to see as it won't happen, but realistically what I hope Amorim does is:

    Onana

    Yoro De Ligt Maguire

    Mazroaui Ugarte Bruno Drogu

    Eriksen Garnacho

    Zirkee

A win would be great for a change. Ipswich are desperate though and after Wolves won yesterday they need 3 points, draws won't be enough for them.

    Onana
    Mazraoui DeLigt Yoro
    Dalot Bruno Ugarte Dorgu
    Eriksen Garnacho
    Zirkzee

Either this or Maguire instead of de Ligt. Think Bruno-Ugarte midfield should be enough for Ipswich and Eriksen will provide some creativity that we need. Perhaps he and Garnacho should switch during the game between two number 10 positions.

    Win United, surprise us please.

    Onana
    Dalot, Yoro, Maguire, Maz
    Ugarte, Eriksen
    Dorgu, Bruno, Garnacho
    Zirkzee

Won't happen of course, Amorim needs 3 CBs at home to Ipswich and the fans buy into it. 'Formation does not matter' they say.

Eriksen and Zirkzee? Got to be kidding right? Zirkzee won't occupy the centre backs. We would have no forward players. If you are going to play Zirkzee at 9 you need to compensate with flying 10s.

It will be Zirkzee and Hojlund starting with Obi on for last 25 mins same as last game. Until we get more 10s fit that's the way of it unless Moorhouse gets 20mins and stakes a claim
