The season never started in China and this is his first start. I'd expect him to trim down over the next while and it's also a big step up.

That is all true, but I would ask about maybe bringing in a striker who is already fit and doesn't need a few weeks, maybe a month, to trim down. Perhaps we should have looked outside of just players represented by the manager's agent and try to find someone who can come in and contribute immediately.
