BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
Sunday 22 April 2012
KO 12:30 BST
Old Trafford

Gibson OG '89
Neville OG '90
Howard OG '91

Seriously though, Scholes in the middle and a repeat of today's intensity with hopefully some less sloppy play in the final 3rd, and we should be grand.

Who plays first next weekend? Us or City?

Win this game and go to COMS with a 5 point lead, we'll win the league

We play first.

Must win game, Nani in for Young as the only change for me.

Everton are a good hardworking side. Never easy.
Being at home is an advantage...

Everton will sit back a lot. Berbatov to get some playing time again.
SAF always makes a couple of changes. I wonder who he'll take off this time.

2nd and 3rd best defences in the league going up against each other, can see one goal winning this if we can hold out. Early goal for you and you will win, early goal for us and it will be close. But i'd like us to try and hold out till about the 70th minute, stick another striker on and go for it.

surely you lot don't want the dippers to be happy.

do the right thing and roll over ;)

This has got nervy, tense game written all over it.

12.30 kick off....:boring:

Crowd will be sleeping. Hate early kick off when we play at home.

De Gea
Rafael Evans Rio Evra
Valencia Carrick Scholes Nani
Rooney Welbeck

This should be our starting lineup for every game until the end now, our best team we can possibly put out (minus Vidic), and all are on form, except Nani who just came back from injury but he scored today. Going to be tough, but I think we'll win it 3-1 or 2-0, Rooney and Welbeck to score.

Think I'd swap Hernandez for Welbeck too, pace up front will be handy against a ver good Everton defense.

Welbeck is faster than Hernandez? At least he seems like it, he definitely is faster on the ball as well.

Going to be a tense game, can see it being one of those with loads of chances, but is only decided in the last few minutes.

de Gea

Rafael
Evans
Ferdinand
Evra

Valencia
Carrick
Scholes
Nani

Rooney
Welbeck

SUBS: Amos, Jones, Cleverley, Giggs, Young, Berbatov, Hernandez.

Only one change from today then, Nani for Young. Berbatov should get half an hour or so again too, and I imagine Giggs will feature at some point as well.

Welbeck just scored and had a very decent second half against Villa. No point dropping him for Hernandez who is probably more effective off the bench at the moment.

I cannot see a reason for a change right now.

de Gea
Rafael Evans Ferdinand Evra
Carrick Scholes
Valencia Rooney Young
Welbeck
--
Amos; Jones; Cleverley, Giggs, Nani; Berbatov, Hernández

Only potential change I see is on the bench, where Smalling might get on there. I honestly think that barring injury, the players who I have listed in this post will be the only ones to feature in a match-day squad for the remainder of the season (bar perhaps Park). Also, I think that starting line up should start every game, except Man City away where I'd go with Cleverley in the middle, or Young behind Rooney.

It'll still be a tough game, but the key is to get an early goal, or at least be in the lead by half time. If we are, I'm sure we'd win this. Nani and Cleverley on as subs again, then either Giggs, Berbatov, or Hernandez for one of the strikers (whether we're winning the game or not).

Team should be...

GK: De Gea

RB: Rafael
CB: Evans
CB: Ferdinand
LB: Evra

RM: Valencia
CM: Carrick
CM: Scholes
LM: Young

CF: Rooney
CF: Welbeck

Subs: Amos, Jones, Giggs, Cleverley, Nani, Hernandez, Berbatov

Cant help but feel after 2 goals in his last 2 games against them Hernandez should start but Welbeck was great today against Villa so I'll go for him again.

Play Young if we want an early penalty, otherwise it would be good to see Nani back in the starting line up, with the rest staying the same.

I've put Young starting simply because I think Nani can make more of an impact off the bench in what I suspect will be a tight game, true Young came off the bench to score a goal against Blackburn the other week but Nani's all round play is obviously light years ahead of him and surely that's what you want from a player when he comes off the bench? Rather than someone who may or may not score a wonder goal out of nothing?

Seeing as Everton were pretty awful against Liverpool I expect them to play like Barcelona against us.

1-0 Utd Rooney 90th min pen

Another reason to have Young in the side is he has a good goal scoring record against Everton during his Villa days and we know even if he's playing shit (which is generally the case) he can still score goals

Or he can dive and win another pen...
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
...

Why so many so keen to drop Young? Hopefully he wins another early penalty next Sunday.

Because he's a bit shit and Nani is a far far far better player I would imagine. I've highlighted the reasons why I'd keep him in for next week though.

Very tricky game...have a feeling we've got a banana skin waiting for us. Rooney traditionally doesn't play well against them, and he's been relatively poor in his last two games (although he did score).

A draw won't be good enough but i can see it happening. Their defense was poor against Liverpool in the FA cup and will want to make amends.

1-1

Can anyone see the unlikely probability that Rooney to be left out of this one? Fergie has done it before right?

I dont see why Young should be benched for diving. He ought to be told to cut it out though. He's in a fairly good form lately. His corners and crosses are much better than Nani's or Giggsy's in my opinion.

Rooney has had some very good games at Goodison(the two in 04-05, 05-06 and 06-07). However he has yet to score against them at OT.

I said I'd have the same team as yesterday, but given the headlines about our penalty since then, I'd actually take Young out and put Nani in instead.
