Manchester United are to add a further 2,100 safe-standing seats at Old Trafford next season after declaring a trial at the ground to be a success, bringing the total to 6,000.

The additional rail seats will be added in the south west quadrant of the stadium, adjoining the Stretford End and the home of the Red Army fan group, who have been adding to the atmosphere at the stadium in recent seasons...

I’ll be in there for the second & third games but I’ll have to go back to my regular season ticket seat for the Wolves game (chubbed in the ballot) which I haven’t sat in for the last three seasons!
All of the Stretford End should be safe standing!!

I understand there are plans to extend it if everything goes well

I've been in the J Stand standing area since it started - definitely been a positive move

So you are usually in the TRA section? I guess this news will increase demand for there

It might increase demand but membership to the TRA has been closed over the summer because of the numbers

Makes sense - how many are now paying TRA members?

Not sure on the total numbers but they’ve cut the allocation for TRA this season so they had no choice really.

They must have a couple of thousand and it was almost always over-subscribed, even last season when there was more seats.

The club have agreed to allow TRA to have an additional allocation in A stand for cup games this season too, which will be good

Whole ground should be like that. Maybe not the wheelchair section.

The two ends of the stadium being massive single tier stands (all equipped to be standing areas) would be a dream.

Not everyone wants (or are able) to stand so no chance whole ground but East and West sides is a realistic aim
You can sit though, if you want. There's still chairs there isn't there?

I'm not sure single tiers make much difference in terms of atmosphere, though. If that's the reasoning.

The whole lower bowl should be safe standing with seated areas being the higher tiers in North, East and West stands
