In what could be a game-changing move for the struggling East Bengal, Premier League giants Manchester United may end up taking the ownership of one of oldest football clubs in the country. BCCI president and former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who is facilitating the deal, told media that negotiations are on with the 'Red Devils' and a few others and a clear picture will emerge in about two weeks. East Bengal were also talking with with Bangladesh-based conglomerate Bashundhara Group but it did not lead to any deal.

I've met 3 Bengali people and one of them supported Manchester United. Therefore 33 per cent of Bengalis support United

Would fix our defensive problems quite easily. I think even that Liverpool front four would shit themselves at the defensive pairing of Varane and a fully grown fecking tiger.

Edit: I just skimmed the thread title, couldn't be bothered reading it properly.

They represent the people from the "east" half of Bengal, i.e, Bangladesh. Hence the club name

Should have bought Roundglass Punjab

They are, they’re moving the franchise to India where there are more Manchester United fans

If the deal does go through, the commercial implications of this is going to be over the roof for our accountant lot. Might also help a few kids passionate about a footballing career to make it into Europe's league's, but who cares about that anyway?

Wait a min. Will Sourav Ganguly part own East Bengal too. Doesn't he already have ownership in the consortium which owns Mohun Bagan?
I too am shocked. I guess we all thought this. The implications of Sourav Ganguly buying East Bengal would be huge. Can’t even begin to imagine the outcome.

The lengths we go to find a club we can send Phil Jones on loan to.

I wouldn’t hold out much hope on that score. As discussed recently over 70% don’t make it. Indian parents won’t want their child in a non certain industry surely?

Meh, I'd have bid on St Etienne in France.
