With Ashworth about to start I think it's worth considering what will constitute Manchester United DNA. He had great success implementing a similar philosophy with the England team so I would expect him to attempt something similar here to take advantage of the youth academy etc.

What do you think this will be?

What exactly is England's DNA? Negative football?
"England DNA" refers to the philosophy and identity associated with English football, particularly the national team. The term encapsulates a set of values, principles, and playing styles that are intended to define English football at all levels. Here's a breakdown of what it typically includes:

  1. Playing Style: Emphasizes possession-based football, with an emphasis on technical skills, creativity, and attacking play. There's a focus on developing players who are comfortable on the ball and can make intelligent decisions under pressure.
  2. Mentality and Attitude: Highlights the importance of resilience, teamwork, and a positive mindset. It encourages players to be confident, determined, and to show a strong work ethic both on and off the pitch.
  3. Development and Coaching: Advocates for a coherent and unified approach to coaching and player development across all age groups. This includes providing high-quality training, fostering a positive learning environment, and promoting continuous improvement.
  4. Identity and Culture: Aims to instill a sense of pride and belonging among players, coaches, and fans. It celebrates the history and heritage of English football while promoting a modern and progressive outlook.
  5. Leadership and Responsibility: Encourages players to take responsibility for their actions, both individually and as a team. It promotes the development of leadership qualities and the importance of setting a good example on and off the pitch.
Overall, "England DNA" is about creating a clear and consistent identity for English football that can help guide the development of players and teams, ensuring they are competitive on the international stage while staying true to the values and traditions of the game in England.

And somehow losing all semblance of this when they stop playing at youth level.

In short, do you think the so called "England DNA" a success considering how the team play in Euro 24 so far? As you had stated he had great success implementing the "England DNA".

IMHO, England's style of play will not even get us Top 4 in the PL, let alone winning it.

Yeah they had great success introducing a bullshit marketing slogan and tricking people into thinking it translated into something tangible that improved the England national team, at least at senior level.

Just throw in some more bullshit terms and we're good to go. 'We will implement a holistic approach to cement dynamic football at the heart of our philosophy to transform Manchester United. We will create football teams that play with passion and prestige and strive for excellence, these will form the fundamental pillars of our United DNA'

People eat that crap up like it's chocolate cake.

Leaders on the pitch. As in the kind of players who are or will become solid experienced internationals in their best years.

Tough winning personalities mixed with flair and the best athletes in the game. A dressing room that challenges each other and keeps each other in check.

Winning football. Stylish when possible but pragmatic as in by whatever means get the points on the board and onto the next one.

Promoting youth and buying and developing the best young players in the world.

Industry leaders across the board. Scouting, recruitment, data, stadium- training facilities and then at corporate level too.

A leader and a major positive in the local community

Listening to and interacting with fans. A noisy and tough stadium for other teams to get anything from.

England DNA is responsible for producing the players, that are more than capable of doing a lot better than they currently are.

The following is going to be a bit pretentious as it applies to most great teams of the yore but whenever I think of our great teams I think of a never say die mentality and relentless attacking football, not necessarily possession based but just looking to do some damage whenever we get a hold of the ball.

So for me:
Imperious attitude towards surrendering
A youth based core preferably from the academy
Direct attacking football plus a healthy dose swagger

The first one is obviously a must in any great team but whether the latter two suit the modern game I don't know.

What's the point of producing good players but can't translate to performance/philosophy/DNA to the first team?

Not his job, that's the managers job. His job was to put the foundations in place and allow the platform to succeed. He more than did a good job, England just hasn't progressed tactically on the field.

Then we may have very different interpretation of implementing "DNA" means. To me it should be all levels playing and performing with the same philosophy rather than just producing players.

It's supposed to. Southgate just isn't a good enough manager and is trying to shoehorn players in.

Pacy wingers who can beat a man would be nice. Growing up on Kanchelskis, Sharpe and Giggs so it’s depressing to watch Sancho or Antony square the full-back up and then pass it back to the full back
