Anyone here into these guys?

I'm a big fan and i expect great things from them in 2009...

Got a feeling they will be huge...

Heres some nice tunes off their old album:

And heres their first single off their new album:

What do you think?

They also made an album which was never released called "Nobody Sings Anymore"
You can easily find it on the web via their official forum.

I went to see them a couple of months back, they played some songs off their new album, sound heavily influenced by nirvana, which isn't always a bad thing.

Wow, I can't believe there's an old thread on these guys and I missed it. One of my absolute favourite bands since way back when I first heard ILAVLAC. I even went to LA alone last year to catch them live, and it was an absolute treat of a concert.

I'm dying to listen to Simple Math, and I've already pre-ordered the vinyl, but I haven't yet had the time to sit down and listen to it after the premiere. Hoping to do it now, but people keep interrupting me on Facebook and Skype!

Edit: And yes, the video for Simple Math is amazing, and it's been a long time since I saw a music video I liked!

Still waiting for my vinly, but I've been listening to the album since it came out on May 10th (it was on Spotify instantly, but they still haven't got their first album!!!), and it's absolutely brilliant. I'll cut and paste my rambling thoughts on it from another forum I frequent:

As for the album, it's quite a bit different than what I had expected, but I'm not complaining, not one bit. It's more poppy, and overall more similar to Virgin (the album) than METN I'd say. I guess I'm a wee bit disappointed that they seem to have left behind that almost garage-rock'y style that they touched at times on METN, but I've always prefered Virgin and subsequently I think, to me, Simple Math really represents the evolution of the band I was hoping for the most.

Overall though I think the songs are just better in most aspects than everything they've done before, lyrically, instrumentally and production-wise, so you can really hear the progression they've made, but at the same time I think they've done a good job of keeping the characteristics of their music, and more or less every facet of the music really sounds like MO when you start to pick it apart. (Or it's just that I've listened to them way to much and instantly recognize their style, on the guitar in particular.)

As for favourite songs, hard to say. Only played through the album five times or so, but so far I love the poppy ones, and especially Pensacola and Apprehension, the latter being my favourite so far. If it (Apprehension) doesn't become a radio-tune I don't understand anything at all. Title track still hits me hard, as does Virgin. Leaky Breaks is perhaps the most MO'y song on the album though, it almost wouldn't have sounded out of place on the old Brainstorm EP if you toned it down a bit!
