Do You think that Manchester needs younger goal keeper than Barthez (he is also good but...) <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

No. Carroll is young, and anyway,at 31, he's not old for a keeper. Schmeichel has won the trebble at 35, Kahn is 33, Seaman is 38 etc...

Yes, but somebody whos under 25 years old, because he can stay for about 10 years in Manchester...

They dont tend to last 10 years in Manc,get too soggy and need replacing ;)

Kahn was runner up for European Player of the Year this year. So Barthez will be fine for a few years yet.
Although keepers can keep going well into their mid 30's, i think Fabien may begin to struggle in a few years because he is smaller than average height for a goalie and because of this he relies of his agility. This will obviously struggleas age begins to take its toll.
By this time Ben Williams will be in his 20's and if the reports are to be believed he is an excellent prospect.

I've noticed that GK usually peak after they're 30.. i think it's something to do with their calmness at the goalmouth.. as you grow older you tend to be more composed and make less mistakes (not when you're very old like Seaman at 37 obviously).

i reckon Barthez will be OK for a few more years.. but i do agree with Ever Hopefull to some extent regarding his physique.. He could struggle as he gets slower because he's been very reliant on his speed in the past.
