What is this for exactly?

When you click it, it gives the option to download from your computer. It allows you to choose/browse for a file, select it and displays the name of the file, but when you go to upload it, it appears to do something but no file appears.

I know there are a few problems with IE8 compatability but I am using Google Chrome.

Of course I realise it is possible to use imageshack or similar, but the question remains...

What is the Manage Attachments button actually for...

Alright, I've seen this, but don't understand what it means, presumably TalkTalk doesn't fall into this category?

You cannot post pictures directly from your computer unless it is running a Web Server and has a Static IP address or at least a URL managed by a Dynamic IP to URL mapping service.

Also, I do not get this link in the post...

An attachment is like an e-mail attachment and is size restricted, basically you are placing the file on the Caf server and it shows up as a link in the post.

I accept that I need to use Imageshack or similar, but still don't understand what this button is supposed to be used for...

It's mainly used (on some forums) to upload pictures more easily. I don't think it's encouraged to use it here.

The good thing about this button on some forums is that it locks pictures from guests, so only members can view them. But the bad thing is that it takes space on the servers.

It does work, see this post https://www.redcafe.net/f9/raul-meireles-299692/index6.html#post9196118

First time I've seen it used tbh...

If we're not supposed to be using it, what is it there for? Which brings me back to my original query...
