Nicely done,
@Mr. MUJAC, there's very little in either clip with which to argue. I'm a little disappointed you didn't namedrop CBJ. Without him, that back four would never have worked half as well as it has (he's provided shitloads of cover for his CBs, primarily Williams, all season long) and all in all he's definitely had a better campaign than Reid, who you do mention. He's also easily the more exciting player IMO.
Your theory on why we dropped out of the Milk Cup has made me all giddy. Very interesting indeed.
There will certainly be some big changes in the academy this summer. However, my theory about why we dropped out of Milk Cup is very simple: we won't have enough players to form a proper team.
Williams and Gribbin will be either with the U21s for pre-season or even U.S tour. From what I heard about the rules youngsters born in 2000 or after are too young to be eligible so it ruled out the likes of Gomes or Matt Campbell.Hence even if you count the next season U16s we'll have only these players eligible for the squad:
GKs: nobody, I don't think the Belgian GK will get his clearance on time and Byrne is too old.
Defenders: Warren,Barrett(U16s),L.Thompson(U16s)
Midfielders: Kehinde,Whelan,Hamilton,Johnson
Wingers/AMs: Dearnley,Makela,Kenyon,Boonen,Tanner(U16s),Monteiro Da Silva(U16s)
Strikers: Roberts,Butterworth(U16s)
So only 15 players at max and extremely short in defence and GK departments, it doesn't make sense for us to borrow 3 or more players from other clubs just for the sake of making up the squad (there will certainly be some injuries as well which will further reduce the number).Hence it would be more beneficial for both the club and the lads to just have a normal pre-season with the full U18s squad.
