Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson hopes to strengthen his squad with three major summer signings.
Ferguson is waiting for the go-ahead from the Old Trafford board to make his moves, according to reports.

United are already at the centre of speculation surrounding high-profile names in their own team.

Real Madrid have confirmed their interest in David Beckham, with reports in Spain suggesting the Champions League holders want to seal a £40m package deal involviing Luis Figo.

And Ryan Giggs continues to be linked with Italian giants Inter Milan.

Unsettled

Blackburn's Damien Duff has been touted as a potential replacement for Giggs, although Ferguson may face competition from Liverpool counterpart Gerard Houllier.

Ewood Park officials have already admitted they are braced for more bids for Duff in the summer, having already rejected an offer from Liverpool last summer.

United have also checked on Nihat Kahveci, the Real Sociedad and Turkey striker, as a possible strike partner for Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Brazil World Cup winner Ronaldinho has also been linked with Old Trafford after he became unsettled at Paris St Germain.

Duff, No.
Ronaldinho, yes.
Nihat, yes.

Why should we take Real's off-casts, who will probably just see out his career here and collect a fat wage packet, duff is good but there is better imo (joaquin, quaresma etc.). Ronaldinho is quality and i think hed be a good purchase, though theres a risk he could take time to settle.

Dont judge Nihat till youve seen him, just because hes not a household name it doesnt mean he's not good enough, ive seen a few clips of him now and he looks shit hot. Proper pace, fierce shot, can take free-kicks, good vision and what looks like a god given talent.

Id seen small clips of him, only a couple of times on football focus, showing the goals etc.

But someone posted quite a few of his goals the other week, and in all of them he shows explosive pace and a good finish.

But to be fair, i havent seen a real socienad (sp) game so i havent seen how many chances he needs to stick one away etc.
