Man Utd can sign Valencia winger Vicente on cheap

Its been revealed Manchester United can sign Valencia winger Vicente for a fraction of his £40 million buyout clause.

The winger's agent, Miguel Cermeno, has confirmed through lawyers that the buyout clause in Vicente's contract only applies to interested Spanish Liga clubs.

Marca says United boss Sir Alex Ferguson had Vicente watched on no less than seven occasions last season.

However, United will face competition from Juventus if they decide to pursue a bid for the 23 year-old. Like United, Juve are aware that Vicente turned down a new contract offer this week and will be encouraged by the revelation that his buyout clause does not apply to foreign clubs.

Did noone understand what a release clause meant at that time?

Surely it not being applicable outside Spain would mean we might have to pay more than that to get him if Valencia dont want to sell.

If they do, they can accept a bid less than the release clause even from clubs in Spain.
