I guess you'll agree with me that Newsweek is pretty neutral. the article they did when u 2 signed the agreement. was interesting (NW 26 march i think) selected stats:
98% of fans are outside manchester
7 million in UK and 14 million in Thailand.

more tomorrow.

nothing just stats, there were more but i seem to have misplaced the mag, hence more tommorrow. I don't want to be posting inaccurate info, not like most of the people on here bother

also Aus has a pretty small population, no?

ONLY SOMEONE WHO IS HORRIBLY IGNORANT OF THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STATISTICAL STUDY OF POPULATION FROM THE STANDPOINT OF NUMBERS, TERRITORIAL DISTRIBUTION AND CHARACTERISTICS WOULD POST A TOPIC LIKE THIS. LET'S CLOSE THIS TOPIC AND TALK ABOUT THE FALL OF KABUL (ASSUMING YOU KNOW WHERE THAT IS HAR HAR)

Of course you have substantive and formal reasons to criticize the implications of the stats, being a scouser from S.Africa.

I'm from Salford mate, I just work over here which should tell you something about making assumptions. I did start getting into the World Series whilst the finals were on, but it's just men's rounders to me.

lets first talk about locating the caps lock key, shall we ;)

also I hope the yanks start throwing in their armed forces to see if they have the balls to fight up close and personal.

hmmmmmmm... well the airforce have been bombing for weeks; and special forces have been ON THE GROUND since the bombing raids started and intelligence people are still snoopin about...plus, more ground troops are moving in.....it's been the yanks' show right from the start ;) ;) ;)

it might have been their show but their 1st casualty was this week. Northern Alliance troops have been putting their lives on the line for the US, in return for what?

because politically they couldn't afford another Vietnam or somalia. wankers.

the US wants to be a global policeman without putting lives (of its own) at risk. utter twaddle

ps. no I am not Muslim

As the one remaining superpower, the US is forced to play global policeman. The US (and its allies) in Afghanistan is all about justice. We didnt go in there because we wanted to show off and strut our stuff about. We went in there to get Al-Qaeda for September 11.

P.S.

There were Muslims who died in the September 11 attacks too you know.

As an enlisted troop in the US Air Force, let me tell you that our air power is superior to all other countries armies, naval forces, air forces and any other form of military action.

Since we have the world's #1 air force, we do not have to risk the lives of thousands of troops in a ground war. Britain is fighting this war as well, yet they have few troops, if any, on the ground. The reason: there is little to no need for ground troops at the moment. However, if an all out ground assault is needed, then the US will deploy troops.

You must hold some hatred towards the US to basically call us cowards. Make your move pal...I'll call your bluff. Just like President Bush played his hand on the Taliban.

MrM I am not belittling your weaponry. After all congress has been investing billions of dollars for decades in all sorts of military ventures (do u agree with Bush's NMD system).

what I'm saying is that it seems OK for afghans to be victims "of collateral damage" while it is a big thing if an american bites the dust (like the mike CIA guy who died in the uprising).

britain is in cos of Blair's (obsession is a strong word) with things US, the Brits aren't too happy about their people in there.

it seems that americans and Man Utd fans are on the same wavelength, if someone has a difference of opinion we must harbour hatred

its called freedom of speech, heard of that?
I choose to disagree with your countries stand point on certain things (esp the environment) and elements of US foreign policy. I also acknowledge that u are the superpower in the world but that doesn't mean we have to love you for it.
the US has done a lot of good but also errs sometimes. comments?

Dude,
Read the NYT magazine piece on Colin Powell; it'll show the mentality of the Joint Chief of Staff and most members of the National Security about how to fight wars in general, and how to fight this war in particular. Ever heard of the "Powell Doctrine"? It calls for the use of force to be synchronized with political means and to be applied overwhelmingly. Quick, low-casualty and popular wars...

Regardless, the US armed forces have been in Afghanistan for quite sometime. You have Navy SEALs, Green Berets, and many Rangers. Lately more Marines have moved in. If Taliban had the balls, they would have given us & the NA more resistance, wouldn't they?

septic war seems to be the direction taken by the US.

also looks like the Taliban are folding with the afghans deserting but the other arabs fighting on, with suicide as a definite option. (like in the fortress  )

They'll get bombed to death. No need to fight with people that have such low disregard for human life including their own.

face it, these people have nothing to live for so they figure they might as well take a few infidels with them.

they'll fail.
the only thing they'll take is some bombs and an express ticket to hell.
