Man United's young English talent does exist!

I remember a few years ago reading on an Internet article(s) that Norwood was the next Scholes, Morrison was the new Giggs, Tunnicliffe was the new Keane, Pogba was the new Jesus and basically all of our greatest players' clones could be found in the youth set up. I have learned to massively distrust lists of 'top prospects'. They normally fail to live up to the hype and are often eclipsed by ones that were left unnoticed by the majority.

l have hope for McNair and Wilson as they have done well at the level they will need to in order to play at United. Everyone else I deem to be completely unproven until they play senior football and even then, their progression is not guaranteed (e.g. Cleverley). I deem these kinds of lists as another kind of transfer muppetry. It can be great fun to discuss but it rarely turns out how you want it. I just try and stay away from it until I have solid reason (as with Wilson and McNair) to hope.

That said, I obviously hope they all turn out to be United regulars and help the club succeed.

One year ago McNair wouldn't have made any list, neither would Reece James. These lists are subjective to who's playing well at the moment and which club has made it far in the FA youth cup and is in the media spotlight. Most of those journo's dont even bother following youth football, they go with the most hyped names..

Though I'm surprised James Wilson, Sam Johnstone, Ben Pearson have been overlooked.

When it comes to kids, we've had plenty of talent BUT there are so many factors. We aren't a club that has to blood youth and so can go out and buy. Morrison was talented but didn't have the smarts. Rossi was a great talent (miles better then Kiko) but we went with Tevez. Pogba is still Pogba. There have been a number but there's so much competition and it's not easy for a kid to displace an experienced pro. It's very difficult for a kid to put someone worth millions of pounds on the bench. We've once again got some good youth players. It's a myth that other clubs have great kids and we don't. They just are able to put them in their first teams because it's easier for them to do so.

Yeah, Pogba's got the miracles and overall influence, but not sure he has the socialist graft of a Jesus. Seems too aristocratic.
