Man United's squad is second most expensive on the planet right now.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.

The CIES Football Observatory is regularly mandated by key governing bodies (FIFA, UEFA, ECA, SAFF, etc.)

*In one specific metric that neglects a host of other fees such as the various extra fees City players have gotten, sign on fees which can be hugely different from one another (see Mbappé) etc.

I would expect us to be there or there-about, but would be much better if you took out the madness signings of Casemiro and Antony, it is also straddling the new INEOS regime which seems to be a much more sensible operating model (early days) compared to the absolute shit show we have had for the last 10 years. The only issue is despite our outlay we are not performing at that level, fingers crossed that changes this season and soon

It's really crazy to see in black and white how badly we've spent. I do think we have a potentially decent squad though to be fair. If we had a little more talent on the wings and a competent manager I think we could challenge for major honours within a season.

Removing Maguire, Casemiro and Antony combined would bring us down below Spurs. Crazy how much we've spent for so little.

Aye, we'll likely lose £305m worth of those fees by shifting on Antony, Casemiro, Sancho (he's seemingly still factored in) and Maguire next year anyway. Don't think it's anything to worry about, if we keep spending how we've spent this window then I think we'll be in decent shape.

Casemiro and Maguire have at least contributed (even if overall they've been bad signings)but Antony is a special case alright

Antony is surely the uncontested worst signing in our history, right? I think only Sancho is even relatively close.

Sanchez and Sancho for me.

Think Antony was definitely worse than Sanchez for me, he was on a huge wage but he didn’t cost us a lot and didn’t stick around like a bad smell.

Well if anything can sum up the spending power of the premier league then that is it. Granted this is just transfer fees, not signing on fees as others have pointed out (Mbappe...) but teams like Brighton being nearly on par with Barcelona is incredible.

And you can see the abundance of quality on the pitch.

It definitely doesn't reflect the amount of money paid, but the The Plan™ would make prime Ronaldo look like Heskey, so I don't think it's entirely fair either.
