Man United v Liverpool Post Match

Andreas Pereira. Literally all that we should take from the game and move on.

I was recording the game and I accidentally turned on the TV with ESPN being the last channel and I saw the scoreline.

Didn't watch a minute, but yikes :nervous:

We really can't afford a slow start in the league at all.

Disappointed at the lack of ambition to attack given it was a pre-season friendly - think it's beyond obvious at this point this is just Mourinho's strategy no matter who he has available. Didn't really get anything out of that bar improving fitness (which I know is priority).

Also most of our youngsters won't make it I'm afraid. Look pretty poor.

mhm... hard to sum up, Reddit people need to wise up. saying game doesn't matter, its Liverpool we should be aiming to beat them every game ffs.

We wouldnt be saying "it's only pre-season, though" if we just hammered Liverpool 4-1. I dont like seeing Liverpool put 4 past a side wearing United shirts. Even if it's the under 10s or the over 80s wheelchair match. It's shit to see.

Lots of players missing and players looked out on their feet after about 50mins.

Andreas in the first half was the only good thing in that game.

Second half was a reserve match. Some good minutes for Fred.

We would though because pre-season is pretty much fitness and auditions.

Worst game ever, a chubby midget scored an overhead kick and why Jose isnt fired yet is beyond anyone oh and people saved up hard earned money to go see that shite. Doesnt matter that Liverpool were almost at full strength and we had mostly the U21s playing.
We were generally poor and disjointed. Liverpool looked a more complete squad with more players available. Perreira was very good.
Cheers. Just saw the lineups. At least you got to see Fred.

Disappointing to be beaten by the scum but literally means nothing.

They have had more pre season games than United and have more first team players in the squad.

Meaningless in the end.

Anyone who has watched United for more than a season would surely start to realise these pre-season games are indicative of nothing. We battered Barcelona a few years ago with Adnan Januzaj running rings round them.

Mourinho 'critics' will come out in full force. Just Remember, United won 3-1 against Madrid pre season and lost the first PL game at home against Swansea...

The result is meaningless, everyone knows that. The performance and how we shape up tactically can be indicative though.

The issues are there are stuff that is still happening from last season.

Lack of width is killing us. We are poor defensively. We got too many sideward passers in midfield.

You can literally make up a starting lineup and 3 subs out of the players that didn't play that game. There are no relevant conclusions that can be taken from this game.

that's

De Gea/Romero
Valencia
Smalling/Rojo
Lindelof/Jones
Young/Shaw
Matić
Pogba
Lingard/Fellaini
Martial
Rashford
Lukaku

basically a lineup and a half.

I know it's pre season but have we lost that bad ever?

Don't really want to look much into the result, but I don't think we got past 1 shot on target.

Just a poor game overall from us but like I said doesn't mean anything. Just disappointed that we didn't test their keeper much.

Even if we had our first XI out there, we'd play exactly the same way. Probably wouldn't have got smashed as badly but its indicative of the season to come. Why do we never attack anymore? You can say it's only pre-season but there's nothing to suggest we will improve in that sense this season compared to the previous two. I'd say we need to buy more players but like I said, we'd play the exact same cowardly brand of football we've seen under Mourinho regardless of whose on the pitch.

We also used to struggle vs Asian and African teams when Fergie was boss.

The only serious thing to take from this game, is that Liverpool are going all out to get a record amount of penalties this season.

No it isnt. This was a fitness test. Tactics and shape do not come into it until we get back to Europe where the match conditions are close to what we will play in against Leicester.

I remember 2013's pre-season as well, where we looked clueless and carried it into the season. It maybe just a pre-season friendly, but add that to what's happening off the field, with the manager looking miserable and no recent additions to the squad and it can certainly all add up.

Just can't even begin to feel remotely bothered by a pre-season friendly with half our team missing. It means literally nothing in the context of the season.

You better hope so.

A lot of us would recognise the same type of performance in the league but with better players who can get a goal.

we need attackers, pronto. second half was utter garbage from us.

Possibly. I do remember us playing some insane football in the Summer of 2014 though. We then played pretty shit when the real football started.

Good point. We were ridiculously undermanned today.

Ignore the lack of first team players and ignore the result, and concentrate on the way we play. The way those young players have been coached to play. It's very worrying.

We was so so poor, we missed the whole of our midfield and just hoof'd it.

The young defenders did okay (don't let the score fool you), they had very little protection from the midfield in fact it looked like Ander, Mata and Mctominay had there brains replaced with playdo.
