Was discussing with a mate over lunch a Man United XI from the 90's.

This would be mine:

----------Schmeichel
Neville--Pally-Stam--Iriwn
Beckham--Keano--Ince--Giggs
-------Cantona-Hughes

Missing out by a whisker:
Parker, Bruce, Kanchelskis, Scholes and Solskjaer

P.Schmeichel

G. Neville G. Pallister J.Stam D. Irwin

D. Beckham P. Scholes R. Keane R. Giggs

E. Cantona M. Hughes

IMO the 99 midfield was the greatest one i've seen.

Schmeichel

G. Neville - G. Pallister - J.Stam - D. Irwin

D. Beckham - P. Scholes - R. Keane - R. Giggs

E. Cantona
R. Van. Nistelrooy

How can we miss out Van Nistelrooy? After a season back from a career threatening injury - what he himself has achieved is nothing short of phenomenal!

Because as far as I know, Ruud never played for us in the 90's

Schmeichel
Neville Bruce Stam Irwin
Kanchelskis Keane Ince Giggs
Cantona Solskjaer

Kanchelskis might not have had Becks passing, or his set piece skill - but he was a more complete player imo.

Ole over Sparky?

Different qualities. Ole is more prolific, and I saw enough of his partnership with Eric to have liked to see a lot more.

Sparky would be there though.

feckin hell did you not agree with someone on a strongest 11 thing

Its my opinion that Andrei would be in over Beckham, if you disagree then fine but don't tell me I can't be serious.
I don't no shit about you or how long you've supported United buy if you saw Andrei at his best its hard to leave him out (the Eric/Andrei combo for the 5-0 for example).
Its not neccesarily my favourate players because Ince and Schmeichel are in it aswell but as a 'best' team from the 90s it'd be hard to beat

P.Schmeichel
G. Neville r.johnsen J.Stam D. Irwin
beckham - keane - scholes - giggs
yorke - cole

No problem mate. Of course you are free in your opinion. If you like you can include Taibi and Blomquist instead of Giggs and Schmeichel. ;)
Just find it a little strange to leave the main provider of goals from mid 90ths til today out.

Though I wouldn`t include Johnsen,Yorke and Cole (and leave Cantona out !!!). There is some truth in it, because the treble winning team was United`s biggest team (not only of the 90ths). How some people can think that the 94 team (embarrassing humilated in europe by Barcelona) was better is a real mystery for me. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

The '94 suffered in Europe due to the three-only foreigners rule; meaning we could only play three of Schmeichel, Giggs, Hughes, Kanchelskis, McClair and Cantona - who were all regular first teamers.

Correct me if I`m wrong. But I think Scotch and Welsh (Giggs, Hughes McClair)were not regared as foreigners.

You're wrong.

But I think there was allowances if they had always played for United. Or something like that.

In the eyes of Liverpool fan.

Keane is better that Ince and Scholes is a fantastic player that gets forward so well, they compliment each other so well.

As for Ole, he is a great goalscorer and his professionalism is to be admired. He is capable of scoring more goals than both Yorke and Cole with the service they got yet kept quite and always takes his chances.

Fair comments - apart from the fact that Silvestre only played for us during the last three-four months of the '90s; he must have really impressed you ;)

The 4-0 by Barca was without Cantona and Schmeichel - two of the key players would'nt you say? plus all the other restrictions from then, nothing in life is certain but one thing thats almost certain is that the class of 94 would of won the Champions League given a fair chance
