Man of the Match

MAN OF THE MATCH: PHIL NEVILLE (MAN UTD)
Probably the best game of his Manchester United career. Mastered Patrick Vieira and one challenge in the second-half summed up his afternoon. Vieira was left in a heap on the floor, Neville walked away with the ball. It was that sort of day for the United man.

I cant decide. Phil may have just stuck out from the rest, but the whole team, back four in particular, were outstanding.

Come on Phil or you are blind.

Completely ruined Pats day.

Brown completely nullified Henry's threat, which is a great achievement, in fact Wiltord and Bergkamp also couldn't get through our centre backs, stopping Arsenal's run of goal scoring games. Incredible. But Phil was still Man of the Match.

for me, its a close call between veron and phil nev.
but the fact that phil kicked viera off the park sums up everything.

It has to be phil. :D

Veron, are you mad?
Phil covered every blade of grass & won every ball going!! Veron was alright but still a bit sloppy.
and who the hell voted for Giggs?? he had a quiet match..

i don't know why, but veron suddently looked capable of playing in the EPL.. congrats to him IMO.

Phil has finally proved his critics wrong - like his brother did last week. they both deserve it.

i loved veron's passes tonight, many of them looked simple - yet i believe they were also very top class.

i gave Veron MOM. i think he deserves it after much criticism in the EPL. thank you Veron for this superb performance. he gave us an edge tonight IMO.

Wes Brown is back! Don't expect it to last but Silvestre-Brown looks a sharp partnership, Henry and co. never really got round them.

Manchester United, the team, every man of them, were my men of the match today. All the fight & determination that they showed against the scousers was there again, if anything even better. Fantastic.

OK I agree with Phil, but one youngster became a very important piece of our squad, yes he's name is John O'shea well done "Big John" ;)

Only 3 people voted for Ruud? He was instrumental in both of the goals, especially the 2nd.

And what about Ole? The man produced several excellent crosses, ran his socks off, harried and tackled.. and not to mentioned some beautiful touches and darting runs.

Phil was good yes... but we don't all have to jump onto the same bandwagon do we?

Bloody good idea.

Cheers I nicked it from manutd.com ;)

I can do it every match, or you can if I'm not around.

It has to be Phil or Micky! Phil was all over the pitch, and Micky did well in defence,as he has done since he was put there. He has shown what an exelent defender he is, he has got realy good speed and teamed up with Wes we have a great pair. But I hope that Ferdinand is ready soon because we need Silvestre on left back too! Even though John has done well there.I belive that this is the place for Silvestre, where he can use his speed in the offence too. :p :p

Brilliant, every single one of them, "over-my-dead-body" mentality, fighting, getting/flying in there.

But for all the shite he gets, and the way he played today, Phil Neville gets my vote.

Juan Seba Veron
Fought for everything in midfield and showed a great deal of desire! Almost nobody wanted him to start but in the end he proved his critics wrong (atleast for this one match). Granted he was still a bit sloppy at times bu the good FAR outwieghs the bad IMO.

Most of the United players were bloody good but Phil Neville again showed me why I will insist to the day I no longer have breath to utter it, that he is a very good player to have in the Manchester United First Team!

`Not good enough` etc - utter garbage. I know Phil always isn`t this good but I think today he demonstrated why we need him. Red Devils everywhere who watched the match in person or on tv saw Phil`s passion, commitment and ability to lift his game quite a few notches.

I wish Phil would visit this site and see this poll and read comments such as mine. Phil Neville Is A Red and I think we are lucky to have such a dedicated player in all senses of the word.

Keep showing your class Phil!

Deservidly Phil is winning this I'm glad to see, played his heart out yesterday and hope he keeps his place

Giggs more votes than Barthez??

I think considering the importance of the games and his inexperience.John O'shea stands out for me.
I think if anyone had a quiet game on Saturday it was Giggs.Although his work rate could not be questioned he created very little if anything going forward.
To close I would say the whole team were excellant .Giants all of them

That sums it up completely. The hunger was there for the entire 90 minutes from every player. Even Veron showed the commitment it will take to lift the PL Championship this season. Well done lads! It was the best match the club has played in some time: since probably the first leg of the CL QFs away to Deportivo.

Ole and Giggs basically cancelled out any offence coming from Cole and Luhzny. Even though Giggs wasn't great, he does attract attention from every opposing defence and is always a threat if not guarded closely. Ole was superb!

Phil was fecking brilliant in the middle and it was the best performance I´ve ever seen from him.
United rules and we are back in the top to stay.
