19 years old, scores the winner and was MOTM in a derby final! What a talent this kid is. I know we've got his performance thread but I felt like this deserved its own thread.

One of the best final debuts from a teenager ever? Here's to many more MOTM final performances from this special kid regardless!

Demon. We’ve finally got ourselves a proper central midfielder again.

While he was injured, I was joking about him solving all the problems we had in midfield.

I knew he was talented but didn’t expect him to come this good in that short a time. What a special player.

10 year extension should be prepared and offered to him tomorrow. He is the best player at Manchester United at 19 years old. Mind boggling.

He's an incredible talent, but you never know how players will perform in finals or big games. This kid has had amazing performances against Liverpool and City now. A clutch big game player on top of a world class talent, feck we are lucky to have him

Phenomenal player. I did not expect him to be this good.

Is it too soon (and disrespectful to Garnacho) to start calling it the Mainoo final?

It was obvious how huge his level was from that pre-season game against Arsenal. The intelligence, maturity and responsibility he showed in that game was beyond his years, and beyond the talent level of most players full-stop.

Had an outside bet of him making the Euros after watching that game.

Not to bash mctominay as he did put in a shift but you really could see the gulf in technical ability in our midfield between him and mctominay yesterday when we were in possession of the ball.

He is basically already our bench mark of how comfortable our players should be in possession of the ball if we want to seriously challenge the top prem and European sides

I think what Scholes said about him yesterday tells you everything.

He said people comparing him to mainoo are wrong because mainoo is far better than he was at 19

Yeah I thought Scotty did a great job of closing out the pathways to Rodri though, that made a huge difference to their playing style

Absolutely. Not saying De Jong would have been the answer but someone of that ilk instead of Casemiro and we'd have been In much better shape as a team.

You really only realize he's still a kid when you hear him speak. To think that at that age he's already got that calmness, awareness, to know what to do the moment he receives the ball, truly one hell of a talent. He will be our midfield general and hopefully for a long time.

They are also different players, it's not a good person to compare him to.

If he was hypothetically playing for a team like Brighton and they won the FA Cup yesterday with his performance, teams would bidding close to £100m for him this summer.

Luckily for us, he’s in a United shirt already.

I absolutely love watching him with the ball at his feet, he’s so smooth and composed. Amazing to think he’s only 19 and he’s only going to get better over the next few years as he develops. He’s got serious goat potential.

It's extremely rare for a young talent to be so calm and composed in a big final. His football IQ is way beyond a young talent. He played the final like he was a seasoned professional playing at very high level for very long. Usually young talent is still raw in certain area but he is perfect and can only get better. What a player!

Brilliant young player, exudes class, really looking forward to see what he can develop into over the coming years.
