Caught this last night. Best watched at 1.25x speed.

Macheda is a legend. I remember my neighbors actually coming to check on me hearing my screams after the Villa goal

Was just thinking about Petrruci the other day. He's apparently still playing as well.

Wow had to Google this guy to remember who he is. Never made a first team appearance for United did he. Taught Pogba Italian apparently!

Macheda has a very unique profile. Very obscure overall but will always be remembered by United fans.

Why do they keep asking everyone about Ravel Morrison. Everyone knows he could have been the very best but he chose not to.

Who can forget that "MACHEDAAAAAAAAAA" moment.. Literally everyone in my neighborhood went batshit crazy.. Including those who weren't watching.

I remember moodily leaving the house as a 15 year old when we went 2-1 down in that game, convinced we'd lost the title to liverpool.
As I was playing football in the garden with my mate I heard my older brother scream as Giggs scored the equaliser.

Came back in and I just remember being stood in the living room, ball still under my arm in that 2008 kit with rooney on the back, watching the rest of the game. The pure elation as macheda's goal went in was mesmeric. A real family moment for us for some reason - better than the previous year's CL final.

First time dad let me have a beer

Unforgettable moment.

Every time I rewatch it, I’m ever so slightly gutted for Macheda that Darren Fletcher wrestled him to the ground when he clearly wanted to celebrate in the crowd / with his family. Still lovely to see him get to eventually embrace with his dad, who looked like he was only in his 30s himself!

Macheda loses the ball just prior to the goal and he still demands it again. Giggs passes to him too. Elite mentality from macheda and trust from giggs.

I remember the newspapers the next few weeks too, him being pictured with a group of blondes in a club - unfortunately that goal let him dine on that moment for years, I'm sure United fans still would buy him a drink etc for it (I know I would).

Amazing moment though, one of the best in my life supporting United - I was too young/occupied with different things to fully appreciate the '99 CL final.

And it was a fecking nice goal also. It's funny that Ronaldo sulked because no one cared he actually scored two goals .

Was just thinking about Petrruci the other day. He's apparently still playing as well.

Both Macheda and Petrucci recently did interviews for the official club podcast - worth a listen

I missed the goal because I was too pissed off at how we were playing. I remember my sister running down to the park while I was kicking a ball around with my cousins saying some lad called Machete scored. I thought she was taking the piss.

Wasn’t it Ronaldo got the equaliser

Probably the best moment I've ever had in Old Trafford when he scored that winner, was genuine fear that Liverpool were going to beat us to the title then Macheda scored and the place went crazy

That goal was one of the best moments of my life as a United fan

It's so weird how we all agree on this being such an amazing moment. Plenty of other moments like this, but Machedas goal really sticks out.

Probably the three most memorable man utd moments in my lifetime - 99, Machedas goal, Bruce's header.

Because it was a cracking goal, back to goal, whipped around and out of nowhere... bang!

After the defeats to Liverpool and Fulham in the previous weeks it felt like the wheels were coming off, Machedas goal that came from nowhere pulled us out of that rut, it was such a huge moment in that season.

The Spurs comeback a few weeks later was massive aswell, but we really were so close to being down and out in that villa game, bringing Macheda on really was a last desperate attempt to get something and boy did it pay off.

Bruce's header was a little before my time, so I'd have Giggsy's goal in the 99 FA Cup semi as my third.

Wasn’t it Ronaldo got the equaliser
Ronaldo scored the other 2 goals, both were absolutely brilliant. I remember a quote from him after the game which was “the thing about Kiko’s goal is that everyone forgot about my 2 goals”.

That goal will go down in Premier League history.
It's still my go to clip when I feel nostalgic. I can just imagine the caf that day :lol:

I was sick as a dog watching that game and also screamed at the top of my lungs when the goal went in. One of the most memorable moments watching United for me personally.

my friend (Arsenal fan) who hated United watched the Villa game with me, with a stupid grin on his face, and when Macheda scored that goal he was like who da fook is that rando nobody scoring last min winning goals for you lot? I laughed at him so hard, his expression was priceless.

he is a legend for me

It was such a great moment. The joy on the face in this tough as nails looking Italian dude was amazing when they cut back to him and he was wiping away tears in disbelief. I'll never forget it.

Wasn’t it Ronaldo got the equaliser
I swear I remember being fired up by seeing how excited Kiko was when Ronaldo got the second. I remember him slapping Ronaldo's back so hard in the celebrations.

Man.... this thread has taken me back. Thank you, Caf

He was 34, 5 years younger than Van der Sar.

What gets overlooked is that he actually scored another late winner against Sunderland the next week, which was every bit as important.

Bit of a scuff though that one

Great times, god I miss Fergie.

What a moment that was. My god. And as others said nobody remembers Ronaldo's goals, 2nd one was truly great. :D

That was one proper title battle that year. Nerve wrecking, squeaky bum time.
