Lurchers

The Lurcher is not a dog breed, but rather a type of dog. It is a hardy crossbred sighthound that is generally a cross between a sighthound and a working breed, usually a pastoral dog or Terrier. Collie crosses have always been very popular. Lurchers can be crossed several times. There is no set type, so they can be as small as a Whippet or as large as a Deerhound; but most are chosen for a size similar to that of a Greyhound, and a distinct sighthound form is preferred.

A friend of mine interested in dog breeding always said that Greyhound/Collie was the best hunting cross.

Edit: Apparently the American pit bull terrier is also great for lamping.

Be careful your neighbours don't have cats, though. Lurchers are hunting dogs trained to catch and kill rabbits, hares and foxes, and won't have any qualms chasing down and killing a cat.

The same friend saw one of his friend's lurchers put down for killing two cats in a week.

Not exactly the ideal time of year to be lamping

give it a month and it will be perfect

collie greyhounds are good
3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie better than a 50-50 cross imo

dont like bull in a lurcher but some swear by them especially for foxes before the ban

What about a greyhound/springer spaniel cross? :D

Probably not even possble, but Springers are fookin' rapid over uneven ground. Surefooted as anything else I've seen. Mix that with the greyhound's speed...
