Manchester United have beaten Manchester City to the signing of highly-rated Polish defender Łukasz Bejger.
M.E.N. Sport understands United have agreed to sign Bejger, 16, after he had a trial in August and he could be announced among their academy intake ahead of the 2018-19 season.
Poland Under-16 international Bejger was with Lech Poznan's academy and made his youth debut for the national team against Scotland in September. Bejger, who captained the U16s against Moldova last week, is primarily a centre-back but can also play at right-back.
In September, United added Piotr Sadowski - who was previously attached to Lech Poznan - to their European scouting network and Bejger will hope to become the first outfield Polish player to represent the United first-team.
Quite a good read, but I guess you could write pretty much everything about a promising youngster nevertheless, Bejger himself mentiones Raphael Varane as his inspiration and player closest to his style and his last coach says that Łukasz has recently gotten much better in terms of positioning (both in defence and attack) and heading, apparently he's also getting better with ball-playing and passing further than to the closest teammate and he's getting some pace.
Still very early days, but would love to see the first Polish outfield player in United shirt. Fingers crossed for this lad.
