Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric has no plans to leave the club this summer.

The Croatian has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer after a superb season for Harry Redknapp's side.

But despite missing out on the Champions League, Modric doesn't have eyes on leave Spurs.

"I am happy and enjoying it here. The fans are amazing, the club is amazing, My fellow Croatians are here — I am not missing anything," he said.

"I think this club can achieve a lot of great things, I think we can fight for trophies, the EPL or cups. Like I said, I am happy here and not thinking about anything else."

It will be hard because being in the Champions League for the first time, we did a great job and played some great games against big teams," he added.

"We enjoyed it, but we didn’t manage to qualify and it is going to be hard watching on television next season. We need to prepare and try again for the fourth spot, maybe third or second — I don’t know."

Luka Modric's advisor is confident the Tottenham playmaker will stay at White Hart Lane this summer.

The Croatian star has been strongly linked with a move Manchester United as the Premier League champions seek a replacement for Paul Scholes.

But Modric's advisor, Mario Mamic, doubts that the ex-Dinamo Zagreb player will move to Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old is under contract until 2016 so not matter what United offer, Mamic reckons the Spurs board will be unwilling to sell.

"Luka will not go to Manchester United and he will also stay at Tottenham because I know that president Daniel Levy will not let him go," he told Croatian newspaper Jutarnji List.

Mamic's father Zdravko is vice-president at Dinamo and believes United may have to top the club-record £30.75million they paid for Dimitar Berbatov in order to land Modric.

"I heard that somebody has offered £20m pounds for Luka but that's crazy," he added.

"When we talk about Modric, that price would only be enough to buy peanuts."

'As regards speculation of a reported £20 million fee for Modric, Redknapp replied: "£20 million for Luka? They've got to be dreaming, he's such a fantastic player.

"You know, we've enquired about players and we're getting quoted more than that for people that couldn't lace his boots so it's not a goer.

"I wouldn't put a value on him, I wouldn't want to sell him."'

Luka Modric has refused to rule out leaving Tottenham this summer.

The Croatia star has been linked with some of Europe's top clubs but Spurs are eager to hold onto their star midfielder, with manager Harry Redknapp having described him as "irreplaceable".

The 25-year-old, who last year extended his contract to 2016, expects to rejoin the Spurs squad ahead of their pre-season tour of South Africa.

But it seems Tottenham fans can only be sure he will stay ay White Hart Lane next season once the transfer window slams shut.

"I'm a Tottenham player and will be in London on July 7 to begin preparing for the season," is quoted as saying by the Daily Star. "But I want to say that transfers could occur later.

"In England it is often the case they happen on the last day of the transfer period, August 31, so it is pointless to worry about anything now.

"If my situation changes after the start of preparation it would not be a problem."

Modric relished playing in the UEFA Champions League with Tottenham last term, catching the eye of Europe's top clubs.

And Manchester United head the list of clubs ready to test Modric's desire to stay at Spurs after they failed to qualify for next season's competition.

Chelsea, Man City and Inter Milan have also been linked with the pint-sized playmaker.

Redknapp firm over Modric

But Spurs boss admits playmaker's head will be turned by interest

Harry Redknapp admits it is impossible to prevent Luka Modric's head from being turned by other clubs.

But the Tottenham boss remains insistent that the club will not allow the Croatian playmaker to depart the club.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea are believed to be more than keen on taking Modric, who has refused to rule out a possible departure.

Redknapp, though, maintains Spurs cannot afford to let Modric move on this summer.

"If clubs the size of Manchester United and Chelsea are prepared to offer him Champions League football and massive wages, you would have to be very naive to think it wouldn't turn Luka's head," he told the Sunday Mirror.

"But I have been assured by the chairman that he is not prepared to sell him under any circumstances.

"And it's fair to say he's not happy about the unwanted attention and continuing speculation surrounding Luka.

"I have said on many occasions he is irreplaceable and it would be a massive disaster for the club if he was allowed to leave.

"We need to be strengthening the squad not depleting it. In an ideal world I would hope to bring in at least three more players to give us a realistic chance of competing for a top four place in the Premier League next season.

"United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea, who all finished above us, are going to strengthen their squads so we have to be realistic.

"If we want to compete with them we have to be active in the transfer market, but I'm not suggesting it's going to be easy. Quality players at the right price are not easy to acquire.

"We also need to trim the squad and sell a few players."

Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric would command a transfer fee of more than £22m, according to his agent.

Chelsea have reportedly bid that figure for the 25-year-old Croat and had it rejected by their London rivals.

"Luka is happy at Spurs but if an offer came in that was acceptable to the club and player, we would be willing to discuss it," said agent Nikky Vukan.

"In my opinion, £22m is a valuation that is too low for the player."

Harry - Blues bid ridiculous

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has branded Chelsea's £22million bid for Luka Modric as 'ridiculous' and insists he has no plans to part with the talented midfielder.

Sky Sports sources revealed on Wednesday that the Croatian was a summer target for the Blues, with a big-money approach having been knocked back by Spurs.

It has been suggested that Chelsea could return with an improved offer, with owner Roman Abramovich prepared to bankroll a squad overhaul at Stamford Bridge.

Spurs, though, have attempted to warn their capital rivals off making a second offer by insisting that Modric is not for sale.

Redknapp is confident he can keep the 25-year-old at White Hart Lane, admitting that it is imperative for Tottenham to avoid becoming a 'selling club'.

He has laughed off the suggestion that the money currently being talked about would even be considered, with Modric deemed to be 'irreplaceable'.

The Spurs boss believes a player of such undoubted ability is almost priceless in the modern game and considers it an insult that Chelsea deem Modric to be in the same sort of price bracket as recent Liverpool acquisition Jordan Henderson.

"Luka is not for sale," said Redknapp.

"If there has been a bid of £22m, that is ridiculous.

"There are people being sold for £20m who are not fit to lace Luka's boots."

United to enter Modric chase

Manchester United are considering entering a bidding war with Chelsea for the services of Tottenham's Luka Modric, while it is believed that Manchester City are also keen on joining the race.

Modric would be open to a move to Old Trafford, according to his agent, after an initial offer of £22 million from Chelsea was rejected by Spurs. Harry Redknapp reiterated on Thursday that Modric is not for sale but Sir Alex Ferguson, an open admirer of the player, is reportedly set to enter the market for the midfielder.

The Daily Star claim that United will tempt Spurs with an offer of around £18 million, plus Premier League topscorer Dimitar Berbatov, in the hope of striking a deal. Nikky Vuksan, Modric's representative, said that the Croatian would consider an offer from the Red Devils, but only with Tottenham's approval.

"If that was the Spurs position then we would be happy to sit with the club and discuss for the future," Vuksan told The Guardian. "He's happy at Spurs. Any offer that comes for him, it's up to the decision of Tottenham Hotspur if they want to reject it or accept it. We have a great partnership with Tottenham and there's not been activity on our behalf that we would do on our own.

"Everything is in coordination with Spurs, and it's all up to the chairman, Daniel Levy, to decide. [Luka's] under contract, he's happy there, he's willing to try to win the Premiership with Spurs and play Champions League [the] next season. He loves the Champions League experience, it was a great honour for Sir Alex to say something like this and he uses it only as a motivation to continue on such a level," he said.

Vuksan refused to reveal Modric's reaction to the rejected Chelsea bid when pressed on the issue, but said it would not be to "anybody's surprise" if a bid of around £40 million came in for his client.

"I'm sorry it's inappropriate for me to say what he thinks about it. Obviously he respects the decision of the club," he said. "If you ask me, Modric is one of the best and one of the probably most expensive players in the world. He's going to keep improving and get better and better."

Former United defender Gary Pallister thinks that Sir Alex Ferguson will make a bid for Modric, who he feels would be the perfect man to fill Paul Scholes' boots.

"There seems to be an impending feeling that Modric is going to move and for me he would be an ideal replacement for Scholes,'' Pallister said.

"The imagination and vision he brings to the midfield makes him a target. He can also score wonderful goals as well, which is part of Scholes' make-up. He maybe doesn't tackle as ferociously as he does but he is a terrific talent.

"I'm sure there are a host of clubs who would love to sign him and I'm sure Harry would love to keep him.''

Meanwhile, United are understood to have offered £9.2 million for RC Lens' teenage sensation Raphael Varane, with the French club agreeing to a deal in principal, subject to the player's approval.

Let me leave! Modric bombshell as he admits he wants to join Chelsea

Luka Modric dropped a bombshell on Tottenham when he told Sportsmail he wants to leave White Hart Lane and sign for Chelsea.

The midfielder took the stunning decision to declare his reasons for wanting to join Chelsea, who are preparing a second offer for the Croat in the next 48 hours.

It is an action that will enrage his employers and Spurs supporters, but Modric says he wants to move to a club with ambitions of winning the Barclays Premier League title and is going public to force the issue.

Last night the 25-year-old spoke to Sportsmail from his holiday boat and said: ‘I want to leave Tottenham as friends. I have enjoyed my time there, but now it is right for me to look at another club.

'I have an arrangement with the chairman. When I signed my new contract, he said that, if another club came to sign me, they would consider the offer.’

A second Chelsea offer is due - and this time the price will rise from their opening £22million bid to closer to £30m.

And Modric said: ‘Chelsea are a big club with an ambitious owner. They have great players and they have ambitions to fight for the title and win the Champions League.

‘I want to stay in London. I am very happy here and so are my family. I like the city.’

The news will explain why Manchester City and Manchester United have been monitoring and talking, rather than formally bidding. They have clearly got wind of Modric’s desire to stay in London in the last 24 hours, which puts Chelsea in pole position.

‘I don’t want to have an argument with Tottenham,’ said Modric. ‘The supporters have been very good to me and I have enjoyed my time playing for the club, but it is for football that players leave clubs and move. It has happened to Tottenham before. It is normal for a player to dream about playing for a bigger club.’

Modric will speak to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy about arranging the transfer but insists the desire to leave is not about money.

'If somebody comes to the club and the offer is good for me and acceptable to them, then I want to leave,’ he said. ‘It has to be good for my ambition. It has to be a club who are winning titles and playing in the Champions League.

‘This is not about money, it is about ambition. When I came to England, I was dreaming about winning titles. That is still the same.

‘Tottenham are a big club, with good players and a good manager, but I want to fight for the championship. Spurs will always have a place in my heart. My experiences in the Champions League have left me with the desire for more.’

When asked what happens next, Modric said: ‘I need to talk with the chairman. I won’t ask for a transfer, no. That would be disrespectful. I hope they can reach an agreement (with another club) that is satisfactory for everyone. I am on holiday, but I need to speak and to see if I can find a solution to this.’

Spurs fans will expect Levy to offer Modric a new contract and keep his word. The chairman has said that he will not allow the player to go, while manager Harry Redknapp described the original Chelsea offer as ‘ridiculous’.

Luka Modric exclusive: I want to join Chelsea | Mail Online

"I wish to make it absolutely clear, as I have said previously, that none of our key players will be sold this summer. We are building a team for the future to consistently play at the highest level and retaining quality players is crucial to that.

"In respect of Luka Modric, we are not prepared to sell, at any price, to Chelsea Football Club or any other club.

"We made our stance on this issue abundantly clear in writing to Chelsea. They chose to ignore it and then subsequently made the offer public.

"For the avoidance of any doubt, let me reiterate that we shall not enter into any negotiations whatsoever, with any Club, regarding Luka.

"We now consider this matter closed."
