Good right back available on a free transfer there.

One of fifteen players that will now leave West Ham

Lucas Neill, Diego Tristan, Lee Bowyer. David Di Michele, Radoslav Kovac, Jan Lastuvka, Walter Lopez, Jimmy Walker, Joe Widdowson & Kyel Reid are the players with first team experience to leave.

That's quite a big clear out

Is this official as yet?

Big surprise if it is, that's for sure.

Will he finally end up at Liverpool then? That's where he was supposed to go when he went to West Ham, and Liverpool like to sign a couple of full backs every summer.

Really? Who?

Scouser wanted him at one point. Turns out their current RB is far superior.

Another lucky escape for Benitez. Right up there with failing to flog Alonso last summer.

He was the only supporter who did want him then. That dirty mercenary Aussie cnut broke Carra's leg in two places with a red card challenge.

He's just making light of the fact you said 'Scouser' not 'Scousers,' Pogue.

Fair enough, shave the wage bill. So he was out of contract?

He's not half as good as his wage demands, and he seems a bit of a twat, so I wouldn't want him anywhere near my club

Yeah we wanted him to stay though and he wanted to stay. We just couldn't agree a compromise on wages.

He's been the best Captain we've had in a long time and has provided cover for us this season at CB, LB & in midfield.

Big loss for us, i'm sure he'll sign for another Premiership club if not an equal sized club in Europe.

I remember reading about Olympiakos targeting him in the Greek newspapers and how they can match his wages but West Ham can't. I'm not sure if there's still talk of him going there but if he goes he might get a bit of CL football and a lot of sun.

Di Michele is more likely to join Liverpool than Lucas and he has already played a game for them

.....vs the Hammers last April

Yep.. Both West Ham and Liverpool had bids accepted and he turned Liverpool down because West ham offered more money..

Wasn't he considered this seasons best RB in the league by many?

Lucas Neill would be in my 'Hate XI', along with Tim Cahill & Michael Brown.

Going to Everton, it seems.
Lucas Neill to undergo medical at Everton

• Defender expected to sign four-year deal
• Moyes seeks to boost squad after Neville injury

Lucas Neill is to undergo a medical at Everton this morning with a view to moving to Goodison Park on a free transfer.

Neill, 31, who is currently out of contract after failing to agree an extension to his £80,000-a-week deal at West Ham, was at Everton's Finch Farm training complex and is expected to sign for the rest of this season and three more.

David Moyes needs reinforcements after a serious knee injury has ruled out Phil Neville for three months, while Phil Jagielka remains on the sidelines. The new signing John Heitinga is expected to be required in central midfield to replace Neville, though he is not eligible to play in Europe until January.

Neill will have to agree to significantly reduced wages if he is to join the club. He turned down proposed moves to Sunderland and Atlético Madrid after failing to agree personal terms but, if he passes a medical at Everton, he could make his debut against one of his former clubs, Blackburn, this weekend.

Moyes revealed yesterday his concerns about the strength in depth of his squad. He said: "We lost five players in the summer and now we have lost Phil [Neville], that's six. And we have only brought three in. That does make things difficult for us, I just hope we are able to cope with it.

"Last season we did not have Europe to contend with after going out early, but if we had I don't think we would have coped with the size of the squad we had then.

"But we have even less now, so that is a serious problem for me to contend with. The squad is smaller now than last season.

"It is testing for all of us, but not every manager is going to get all the money he wants to buy the best players in the world with riches and the top players.

"Part of this job is working with what you have and making the best of it. We have done that well over the years."

It makes sense as an emergency signing with Neville out for a while, but they'll have a lot of defenders when Jagielka and Neville return: Yobo, Hibbert, Baines, Heitinga, Distin, Neville, Jagielka, Neill...

I like him. Was quality for us at the World Cup, despite giving away a penalty against Italy. Not a 80k a week defender, but will should do well for Everton (Although he has looked a bit rubbish for West Ham)
