"One deal Fergie will hope to pull off is the £4m signing of Feyenoord's 17-year-old Luc Castaignos.

Fergie's spies have been on his trail for months and he has now made an offer." - The People.

anyone ever heard of this guy?

Just did a search and apparently he's the Dutch Thierry Henry and Arsenal are also about to sign him as well..:smirk:

I dont think its time for us to see the youtube movies of him just yet, but who knows :)

I watched him in the Euro under 17(I think it was) on eurosport and he impressed me every time. Seems like a very good talent.

Would love to see us sign him, maybe on a deal that sees him stay at Feyenoord for one more year. Whether we'll get him - who knows, it looks likely that at least 2 or 3 english clubs will move for him this summer, I'd say our main rivals would be Arsenal as they have some Dutch players and a reputation for developing youth.
Liverpool - look at how Benitez has developed Babel.

Benitez has not done much good for Babel.. Infact his development has suffered at Liverpool..

Would be very annoying to lose a 5mp rated 17 year old prodigy to Arsenal for the second summer in a row.

Ah yes..

Just BTW is that Hargreaves (pre-photoshop)

Yeah remember this, it really pissed me off last year. He went to Arsenal because of their reputation for playing youngsters, and he thought he'd get to the first team faster...

Last year we had: Raf, Fab, Welbeck, Kiko and Gibson in the team at various times, two of the 17, and two just turned 18. Whilst going full pelt for 5 trophies... How could he think he wouldn't get a chance at United? What a spastic.

I think, iirc, that a major factor was the approach the clubs took at the time. I believe Wenger flew him out to wherever the hell he was and met with him personally, to try and sell him Arsenal as a club and as a project.

While we sent Gary Neville didn't we? To be honest, I can see why Ramsey chose Arsenal.

Now if he'd gone to Liverpool or Chelsea I'd say he was an idiot - but Wenger does have a good record with young players. ;)

He's going to be a great player. Glad he didn't go to the dippers, I heard they were sniffing.

United tried to sign him a few years back, when he was turning 16 but he didn't want to leave home so young. He's one to keep an eye on for sure, glad he's gone to one of our partner clubs, where we can get inside updates on his progress.

Thought I would bump this one as we might be in the market for a striker in the summer should the constant rumblings about rvp and / or hernandez prove to be true.

It didn't quite work out for him at Inter but he is young, very talented, tall and quick - even if we were not in the CL he would probably view a move to United as a step up and he has the potential to become much better than he is now.

FC 20 paid 6m euros so one would have thought a bid of around £10m+ could become tempting for them as it would bag quite a bit of profit.

Does anybody else see him as a good option (particularly if Hernandez was to go) for back up at United and if he fulfils his potential then he could become an important part of the 1st team.

Not a bad record to date, haven't seen anything of him at all though but for what it's worth... he's a young Dutch striker who played for U-17's scoring 13 in 17 games, then playing for the U-19's with a similar record of 8 goals in 17 matches, played one game for the U-20's and didn't score before he now features in the U-21's, where he has 5 goals from 9 appearances.

Started his career at Feynoord scoring 15 in 27 before going to Inter in 2011 which saw him fade away a bit scoring 1 in 6 appearances over a year which is rather poor, highlighted by the fact he got in a mid game spat in February that year, however he now plays for FC Twente (McClaren's old club) where he has a rather average 23 from 53...

Nothing to suggest he's anything special from stats/experiences, has anyone seen much of him?

I was thinking about him a few months ago. Very brief thought, just one of those 'I wonder what happened to that guy' thoughts.
