Lovenkrands

A few people on here talked about whether he would fit in a few months ago but since Christmas no-one seems to have thought about it.

I have a few friends in Glasgow some of which are Rangers fans and some Celtic but the one thing they all agree on is that he is class.
He's a left winger with real pace and an eye for goal.

I've only seen him play a few times but he has impressed me and i think he can do real job for us

Lovenkrands would be a fantastic buy for us. Don't think he'd go for more than 7m TBH.

Slightly over-rated. Tends to play well in the big games (against Celtic and in Europe) which serves to heighten his reputation down south. When he's on song, he's very dangerous, but he simply hasn't performed in a lot of the bread-and-butter SPL games.

To fulfill his potential, he needs to become more consistent.

I understand what you mean, but i think he would really fit into our system. Out of all the left wingers that i can think of he is one of the few that have genuine pace and finishing ability.

I don't know if I'd like to see him in United... as already mentioned, he needs to be more consistent... but on the other hand... maybe United could do that trick for him... (??)

- Could be great with another Dane in the club though :) - and he does come out as a 'down-to-earth'-kinda guy!

I suspect Lovenkrands finds it hard to get motivated for games against Hearts and Motherwell etc in front of paltry crowds. Who wouldnt struggle to reach their best when the points are more or less assured after the kick-off is taken. I can see why Lovenkrands would play his best games in the big ones, thats the mark of a good player imo, and every game is a big one in England. I'd expect him to be more consistent if he came, with SAF to guide him.

Lovenkrands would be a good squad player for United and if we could get him for 2 or 3 Million then I would say yes. But he wouldn't be good enough as a regular first choice. Tends to drift in and out of games although the points made about him "motivating" himself for the lesser games are probably spot on! I know this as I've been watching him since he came to Ibrox and whilst I'm no professional scout I think I know a UNITED player when I see one.

And you couldn't say that about our current left winger could you ;)

But Lovenkrands on a good day would be about as useful as Giggsy on an average day!!!

I think that's a bit harsh on Lovenkrands.

He doesn't have the skill or touch of a Duff, Denilson or Vicente, but he's faster than any of them. In terms of style, Giggs and Rommedahl are the most similar.

'Gers fan by any chance....looking thro' blue tinted spectacles? He looks really good sometimes....a) when he can be arsed and ... b)against generally less able defenders than you would find in the Premiership. Lovenkrands was not exactly brilliant in Rangers European Games.

You obviously haven't read the thread.

But, for your benefit, I'll repeat what I said earlier on:

'Slightly over-rated. Tends to play well in the big games (against Celtic and in Europe) which serves to heighten his reputation down south. When he's on song, he's very dangerous, but he simply hasn't performed in a lot of the bread-and-butter SPL games.

Au Contraire....I did read the thread and I don't think he was particularly good in Europe, although he has performed well against Celtic. When he has looked good it has not necessarily been against the better defences. Could be co-incidence, could be he ain't that good. I rest however by my original assertion that I don't think he is anything better than just a squad player for United.
