Van Gaal arrives at United

Louis van Gaal has arrived at the Aon Training Complex to begin work as Manchester United manager.

The Dutchman, fresh from taking his native Netherlands to third place at the World Cup finals in Brazil, is meeting with the squad ahead of embarking on Tour 2014 promoted by Aon later this week.

Our historic first picture from his opening day in charge of the Reds, flanked by assistant manager Ryan Giggs and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, marks a new beginning for the club as van Gaal prepares to put his players through their paces over the course of the pre-season campaign.

The new boss will be officially unveiled at a press conference on Thursday at Old Trafford, which will be screened live by MUTV HD, with the programme starting at 14:45 BST.

I'll be following this thread closely as I am unable to watch it.

I expect quite a few transfer questions and I expect he will tell us absolutely zilch while giving the journos a bollocking for asking

Van Gaal always gives an entertaining press conference, so will be a good watch.
hopefully he can give us some hints on whether we will do any further business in the transfer market, and how we are going to play under him tactically. Also whats happeing with neville and butt.

looking forward to it.

I have a very reliable river for MUTV should anyone require one? Let me know if you do :)

Anyone know how he is at answering transfer questions ?

Maybe he goes all Harry Redknapp on us.

he's a bit like fergie dosnt give much away and can be pretty aggressive towards journalists if they ask questions he isnt happy with.

so i can't see him hanging out his window on transfer deadline day tell us the gossip lol

Hope he tells them that whatever transfers we are involved in are none of his business.

The reality is that he is likely to peddle out a "it's a strong squad, if we don't sign anyone else it won't be a problem" sort of line so we are not in a position where selling clubs think we have to buy.

the press will be crapping themselves. LvG commands respect. The press will want to impress LvG. Thank God i won't have to hear the word Preston or Everton related to United in a press conference again.

Oh how we'll all giggle when he comes out and says we'll try to aspire to get back to Europa League standards this year.

Anyway to get an MUTV stream of the press conference for those who don't have MUTV?

Should definitely be a pool "who'll get banned first".. my money is on the muppet killer Jamie turd Jackson.

Thanks for the stream Derek.

Ha, just turned it on and some bird asked a supporter in the club shop, "What do you think of the new shirt?"

Random bloke: "It's really red."

Brilliant.

Doubtful. He has dutifully reported what the club have requested. Far more likely to be someone from one of the red tops asking a 'cheeky-chappy/trying to be funny' question who'll get the van Gaal death stare.

Guys, can you message me if you want one? It's difficult keeping up with requests.

Yes, Colin - it's a continuous river, water is free flowing and doesn't stop.

He won't say much. Aside from the predictable platitudes I reckon he'll easily dismiss any probing question by pointing out he's only been here a day and much of the squad aren't even here yet.

Remember the last year's press conference thread and all the moaning and dissecting of each of Moyes' sentence? Van Gaal's will surely be more lively and positive so probably our thread too will be positive. Don't know what to make of the build up though. Might turn out like Mourinho's during his second coming when everyone expected it to be spicy but turned out pretty dull.

If he uses the word "try" it will be interesting to see how people take it. Not that I actually expect him too.
