Especially with that remark of his stating that he's extremely pleased with the appointment of Venables.

Anyone else on that wanted list besides the usual Ayala, Nesta, Thuram, Chivu etc

Please don't mention Gallas ;)

There's a good chance that we wont see a new signing for weeks yet. A lot of European clubs seem to be strapped for cash and desperate (esp the Italians), that points to a waiting game for those clubs with the candy to try and smoke out the best deals.

Let's face it something has to happen to bring down some of the scary figures being banded about <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

No, seriously, Hofland for about 7 million. Blanc and Wes Brown can alternate being the cultured CB and Hofland can be the BMFer.

Nevertheless, I'm not worried. Like I've said before, Fergie already knows whether Rio wants to join or not and if not - I'm sure he's moved on to his next targets. If he ever wanted Ferdinand.

Latest on the Rio front is that Arsenal will part exchange him for Ray Parlour.

The PSV chairman said that his club wasn't around to solve Arsenal's personnel problems when Wenger tried to ship off Kanu to PSV in exchange (plus cash) for Van Bommel last week. Can't see Parlour being any different for Leeds. They might as well keep Bowyer.

With Pires, Ljungberg and Van Bronckhurst not being around for the start of the season, Arsenal aren't in the position to give away midfielders.

They've already signed a centerhalf, or almsot (Cygan), and if they get Ferdinand is such a part exchange they're unlikely to have much if anything to spend on a midfield, which has become a problem position for them with all the injuries.

Cisse has more raw talent than most young players. He has pace, can score from outside the box, inside, is excellent in the air. Plus the French league is much better than the SPL.

Year right! The way shit is bettr than dung. Both those leagues are bollox. But Larsson is World class and miles a head of "SissY". He proved it at the Mundial imo. Don't mention them in the same breath.

Cisse wasn't top scorer in the French league actually. But yes, we ought to do our best to get him. Henrik is a class finisher, but close to his sell by date, if not already past it.
