Okay, these were 2 bad defeats. But remember how it felt after the City match? Remember how bad it looked when we had matches coming up against Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool with half of our team out? I remember thinking I'd happily take 4th place at that time and be guaranteed a CL spot.

We're still not out of the race for the league. Arsenal's got some tough matches coming up and in 3 weeks time, the table could look totally different again. And we're in a much better position for a CL spot.

For me, the big concern is HOW we're playing. Today we looked a lot more like the struggling United from earlier this season. We just need to re-capture that chemistry and team spirit that we had a few weeks ago. If we can do that, I still think we've got every chance.

hmm would like to but 6 points lost are never regained ..

Does anyone have the comparative points , league position at New Years Day say over the last 5 years ????

Yeah, these were 2 bad defeats. And they're the type of matches that you really do need to win when you're going for the title. We've lost our consistency from a couple of years back. Two years ago, we would have grinded out a result against Blackburn/Middlesbrough.

What gives me hope though is that everyone else has been inconsistent as well. Hopefully, Arsenal hasn't gotten their bad run of form totally out of their system yet. That's what we have to hang on to...

That said, I know that we have to start helping ourselves.

We will NEVER win the PL with this amount of defeats :( Hopefully, we will finish above the scouse scum at the table...

We used to beat sides like Blackburn & Borough easily n the past, Now while we'v defeated the Likes of Liverpool Arsenal & Newcastle, We r struggling against mid table sides.

The irony is that a couple of years ago we were criticised for winning the league because of our great form against the lower sides. Now, that's where we're slipping up and ultimately may be where we'll lose the league.

i agree with Red15, of course 6 points will never be regained, but red15 is totally right!
just before our purple patch began we were "totally out" od the race for the pl. after a few games we were right back in it. arsenal do have hard games coming up, they might not drop points then but they will drop points sooner or later because i do believe that the quality of alot of teams have increased. nowadays you cant expect the man uniteds & the arsenals & the liverpools( ) to win everyweek.

sure we didnt perform today but whose 2 say that after our next 2 games we are only 1 or 2 point behind arsenal...

it's odd, i wonder why SAF has violated the basic principles of football i.e never change a winning team when you are on a winning streak; if the mindy is willing, but the body cannot cope then leave the pitch and become a technical director ('am sure Blanc would be a good TD for our defense); no one has divine rights to play, even the likes of Roy Keane have to earn their places...bold
