The primary culprits appear to be sponsors, media, and the various Olympic associations themselves.

If they wish to forfeit the privilege i am sure we can find takers.

Yes, it's a disgrace. Prime seats, too. Seats next to the Royal Box at Wimbledon not occupied, lots of the best lower-tier seats empty for the swimming heats - people would love to have the chance to sit there.

In Beijing they bused in rent-a-crowd due to a lack of natural demand for some sports but we are not lacking interest among tge general public here, merely opportunity. LOCOG need to discover how lasting this problem could be and soon.

Coe said he'll name and shame companies but he'll shy away from doing so with fellow olympic sssociations you'd think.

It's about time all this corporate hospitality nonsense is stopped for events like this, when there's huge public demand. Wimbledon's another one. Many of the people who get the best seats aren't even really interested in the sport, they just want to drink copious amounts of free booze and swank about.

if they want to fill the seat's and the corporate ticket holder has not arrived, why not go and ask the 100's of people that will be milling round Olympic Park or what ever venue it is, do they want to watch it for free.
I am sure that they would get many takers.

Yeah they should just set a deadline to fill up the seats by, say 30 minutes before the start of the event. After that they should let people purchase those empty seats at the turnstiles or just walk in for free.

I havent seen a near full arena yet, there is massive gaps in the seating everywhere, looking at the swimming here there is huge gaps of empty seats all over the place and apparently is the sponsors and media at fault according to the commentators, it really is an utter disgrace to see all of these venues with huge sections of the stands unfilled.

That's all very well, but the public wouldn't bring in anything like as much in the way of money.

The way corporate culture is seeping into all sports (not just football) is a shame, but you can't take the increased money flowing through these things and not expect something bad to go along with it.

Loads just went on now, still cant get anything.

Even just trying to see if i can reach the checkout with the most expensive ticket, i still get the message:

Sorry, no exact matches were found.

If you would like to amend your search, you will need to remove the session(s) you have requested from your shopping list. Then you can try one or more of the following options:

Reduce the number of tickets requested per session
Change the price category
Select another sport or session"

The LOCOG are just on one massive wum!

One of the evening sessions in the Olympic stadium would be quite something, cheering on Ennis or Farrah.

Too late for the rowing i suspect but the velodrome and Greenwich park perhaps.

How much is too much though?

What are you talking about? The corporate seats at the Olympics are given out free, and you don't think they actually buy anything whilst they're there do you? They get fed and watered back at the hotel, so the beneficiary is the hotel, not the venue (i.e. LOCOG).

It's not like corporate boxes at football where they pay stupid amounts for the box and stupid amounts on food and drink.

If the seats were made available to the public, they'd get both revenue from tickets and from food and drink.

My solution would be: make 100 tickets per venue per event available to corporate, and if they really want them, let them apply in a ballot for their free tickets.

I've no problem with complementary tickets as long as the recipients actually turn up and cheer e.g. prince harry and william.

As they are releasing seats that were set aside for the "olympic family" they are all the expensive seats. So they have released quite a few tickets, but unless it's Sailing or Football you're looking at only the £300+ tickets available.

There is an Atheletics evening session available, thought i'd try and go for that. Cheapest ticket available is £450...

Their website is a shambles and the whole process has been horrible. Shame is that if they say "we will learn for next time", when is next time? :(
