I think everyone is missing the very obvious answer to the "Where are the signings" question. It seems to me that there cannotbe any new signings until the Nike deal is official. And by official, I mean, how are we supposed to announce the Rio or Ronaldo or Tony Sanneh signing until we can show them in a brand new Nike kit? Maybe this is too simplistic, but I'm expecting the big signings to come on the same day that the new kit is officially shown to the public. Just a thought... Ben

I think the players are waiting to see if the kit is nice enough, I mean would u want to sign in a club and then see their new kit looks like Arsenal's ? (is the kit shown in the forum previously REALLY their new kit ?) I think not...

hey, you that Andy Goram bloke by any chance, RangerKeeper.... ;)

Not the last time I checked... but I'm serious about this, I really think there won't be any signings until the Nike deal is official. -Ben

Tony Sanneh was a joke. I'm American, so obviously I'm biased. He was great, but obviously not quite United quality. The point was we won't know anything about anyone until the Nike deal goes through. -Ben

Good point Ben. I think you're on the money on this one. Nike won't have the kind of pull some people suggest (e.g. bringing Ronaldo to Utd), but they're there to maximise their brand value - which means appearing in pictures that shown round the world and reprinted for a long period of time.

Any idea when the Nike deal will become official?
Is that what the "announcement" is about?

Yes the 12th. And the pictures point is exactly correct. Before the Nike kit/ deal is official we could sign new players but they couldn't have there pictures taken with the kit. Man Utd and Nike both love publicity and they don't mind waiting a few days to maximize the show of making a signing. Also, unlike us, a few weeks is nothing to the largest sports company in the world and the largest football club in the world. Ben

How often have we seen that bloody photo of Veron holding the scarf above his head?
I'd imagine Duff and Rio would want to have Nike kit on instead Umbro!

It maybe because are transfer targets are on holidays

They are due back this week though
