I know we dont do loan in anymore these days, but if we do, who would you like us to get as short-term, say 2-3 months, solution for our current CB problem? He can straight away play or at least he can be a fit backup CB to be left on the bench. He has to be someone with considerable experience and realistically available to be loaned in. Someone who just retired maybe?

Anyone freely available on loan right now will probably be shit or slow or take time to settle in/adapt.

The way we've been losing defenders the last few seasons, we probably would have done it already if it was a realistic option.

There's no use doing it now since Evans will be back in a couple of games at the most and the loanee would only really be useful for a game or two.

What about our reserve team centre backs? Surely the more talented ones would do a better job than Carrick at CB?

I can't see us loaning in a player now. Any player that would be available for this would be rubbish. No team is going to let a CB who has the ability to play for us go at this point. Those players are likely to be a teams starting CB as well and they would want to keep hold of them.

If anything we will just keep playing Carrick there or bring in a youngster from our reserves to plug the gap until the more regular faces are fit again.

Never can understand this mentality

Why? Sure, Carrick has the composure of playing at the highest level for years but he's not a centre back. If we have someone really talented in the reserves who is a natural at centre back is it crazy to suggest that he could do a good job?

Note: I don't know if we have such a CB.

would rather have Gary Neville coming out of retirement for two games at centreback than to loan someone for short term

I don't think that's needed or a good idea either way.
Sure, this is an incredibily unlucky situation, who could've guessed we'd be down 4 CBs before the season has even begun, but the point stands, we've got 5 top class/top prospect CBs in our team and that's already enough when you take into account that none of them are crap and just played for the sake of playing.
Evans might be available for tomorrow's game, and the others will be back within a month, some of them 2.
At some point we're going to have a "problem" seeing as it'd be unfair not to play any of them, but at the same time a steady back 4 is really needed.

I am not in favour of this as well. I would rather we blood youngster. It is just a 'what if' dicussion.

I do like the idea of Ledley King though.

Is there any good-level league having a break at the moment?

Maybe niave, but who would be good enough for us, that a team we're not in direct competition with (either here or in Europe) could afford to give up?
