'tis a silly place
Since Liverpool decided to let Robbie Fowler go to Leeds United Milan Baros has also had his work permit rejected, which means Liverpool have just three strikers.

But no club can do well with one striker who is very young and seems to get injured a fiar deal (Michael Owen), a striker who has scored twice this season (Emile Heskey) and an ageing player lacking fitness (Jari Litmannen).

I would just like to know who Liverpool should realistically aim for accoridng to Liverpool fans.

One name I have not heard is Emile Mpenza, who I believe plays for Shalke - he is a good young Belgium prospect who could do a job.

In the meantime, who do Liverpool fans believe should be first choice with Owen? Surely it should be Jari Litmannen? This guy is terrific and can still do OK and Owen with someone to drop off with Litmannen who links with midfeild would do well.

In my opinion Liverpool should play 4-3-2-1 with Danny Murphy and Jari Litmannen playing as Forwards linking up to midfeild - that team would form some attacking partnership I can tell you.

Yes, good call Gazza. Mpenza would ideal for LFC. <img src="graemlins/angel.gif" border="0" alt="[Angel]" />

ps. I hear the Alps just got some excellent powder. ;)

Attacking and Liverpool don't belong in a sentence, Gazza. ;)

First of all the Baros deal is still on the club have launched an appeal and are confident it will be successful, if not than i expect we'll go in for another striker.

As for the formation it's a good option although i'd rather have Jari and Berger behind Owen rather than Murphy, but why change a winning formula, we're doing good at the moment and changing and i can't see us suddenly changing our long term formation as this might disrupt the squad.

Lets compare our strikers including baros because he will more than likely be here by Jnuary (the club knew the inital application would be rejected because he hasn't played 75% of his countries games over the last 2 years).

L'Pool Vs Man Utd-Vs Leeds-Vs-Arsenal
Baros-----Yorke----Fowler------Kanu
Heskey----Cole-----Smith-------Wiltord
Owen-------RVN------Viduka-----Henry
Litmanen---Solksjaer-Keane-----Bergkamp(jeffers is injured)

If you take Owen, RVN, Henry or Viduka away from any of those teams it's a huge loss, I can't see how you would say we'd struggle more than anyone else.
In fact I think we are fine in the strikers department. If you compare the scoring records of any of those players over the last year...Leeds are probably the weakest, followed by Arsenal. Man united and Liverpool are fairly equal in my opinion.

We are doing well with 3 strikers...

Heskey and Owen is our first choice strikeforce...its proven and successful..

Baros should be here next season and I've got a feeling we'll sign another back up striker, probably Cisse, although I personally wouldn't bother...

All credit to Liverpool, they've got rid of they're poorest striker: Robbie Fowler.

They're now left with 3: Heskey, Owen and Litmanen. Admittedly, none of these is in the same class as strikers like Henry and Sheva, but nevertheless they are handy.

Liverpool could roll the Premier League if they had someone like Henry leading their attack. Unfortunately, they don't. Stiff titties, Liverpool.

So do you think the amazing Henry will win European footballer of the year ahead of Owen manx????

I agree Henry is a wonderful striker but He is not a class above Owen, as far as efficiency of strke rate is concerned Owen shades it. Owen also scores in the big games, remember the FA cup final? Henry should have grabbed 2 or 3 but he wilted under the pressure.

I rate Shevchenko above both of them, thank you. :)

Perhaps we should all try to buy him...

With no World Cup for him, he'd be a good bet to be fresh for the next season...

And hungry to win too.

How much would he cost?

Would a player exchange deal be worth considering?

Man Utd have got a certain Mr Beckham who might just fit the latter category.

Liverpools' strikers.............didn't do very well last night did they?

Niiiiiiiiice.
