Magical Manchester United.
Subject to medical.

Liverpool Football Club have reached an agreement with SC Heerenveen for the transfer of winger Oussama Assaidi, subject to the player passing a medical.

The 24-year-old, who has scored 20 goals in 68 appearances for Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie, will now undergo a medical at Melwood.

Assaidi has represented his native Morocco 22 times since making his international debut in February 2011.

One of the highlights of his young career came in a 6-2 win over FC Twente in 2010 when he scored a hat-trick and assisted the other three goals.

Comes from the youth of my club (Zeeburgia), along with Narsingh and Braafheid. Has had a lot of disciplinary issues ala Ravel Morrison in the youth teams he's played. He's a talented tricky winger who'll suit Rogers' style of play. But he's not going to set EPL on fire I don't think.

Welcome, Assaidi. Please don't be shit.

I love signings that are completely out of the blue like this,

Because of his off field disciplinary problems, which he now seems to have put to bed, his development was seriously hampered. He's talented alright, the question is what level can he reach?

i would've imagined a top 6 club in england, spain, or italy would've tried for narsingh this summer instead of him omving to psv.

How the feck are they bringing in quality like assaidi and we are stuck with shit like Kagawa and Van Persie. feck the Glazers, tight bastards!

Narsingh & Assaidi are talented & skillful players, but I just think they lack that extra strength, speed and vision to make it right to the top. I don't know what their work ethics are like but sometimes I suspect neither might not be totally comitted.

He was set to sign for Ajax, and the clubs had already agreed terms. The deal didn't go through because Assaidi himself wanted more money from Ajax even though he was already offered substantially more than what he got at Heerenveen. I think he has a shit attitude to be honest.

He's got skills, but the EPL is a much higher level than the Eredivisie and it wouldn't surpise me if he has an underwhelming spell at Liverpool. Defences in Holland are pretty aweful and it'll be interesting to see if he can actually perform on a higher level. I personally doubt it.

I think Rodgers is way more capable of recognizing talent than Dalglish, and it's not like I expect him to be "the best deal of the season", but I do expect more of him than any Dalglish signing.
Rodgers just signed this guy and Allen for roughly the same amount of cash that went for Downing, and I think each of the 2 players is gonna be more important to the team next year.

Looks quite talented as well as problematic. Thats how RVP was when Arsenal signed him.

That has to be about the crappiest comparison ever. In Holland RvP was well known and considered a world class talent right from a very very early age. Assaidi is 24 and still 'unknown'.

Narsingh is more well known than Assaidi yet you probably never heard of him either. Anyway, RvP's more gifted than either.

What's Narsingh's nickname? I doubt it's as good as 'The Ferrari'. He'll never make it.

And RVP needs a cooler nickname....lest he be a complete flop.

No idea who he is.

Do love how no "ITKs" or newspapers had a hunch of this though.

Well I won't be using Heerenveen on FIFA anymore. Narsingh and Aissadi on the wings with beanpole Dost in the middle. :(

The newspapers will no doubt ignore that fact though & instead tell everyone how they were first to break with the, 'RVP to United' story.

It's these self-proclaimed ITKs that are going to be feeling like mugs. They've built themselves a nice little reputation on the internet by calling a few transfers right. Wouldn't be surprised to see a few of them disappear, or re-surface under a different name.

His agent is Raiola. Best of luck to Liverpool in that case.

Just imagine: if Liverpool win the league, they'll be able to unlock Pele from 1970 & the '74 Dutch world cup team.
