Even if Evra is on his way out, which I highly doubt he is, then I think there are better full backs out there for us to get.
 
Weren't both clubs linked to Jose Enrique recently as well? I dont see us needing a new left back with Evra in the team and Fabio still developing
 
If it is true we are looking for a replacement for Evra, we could do a lot worse than looking at Leighton Baines.
 
Taiwo used to be a good prospect three or four years ago, he's gone completely off radar for me since then probably because I stopped watching Ligue 1. He's still young though, I see, 26 this year, but I doubt we'll be going for him with Evra and Fabio at the club, and even when Evra goes (very doubtful) I'd still expect Fabio to get his chances.

The media are really keen for us to lose Evra just as they were for us to lose Vidic.
 
The only alternative we have to Evra are right footed players. Im not saying that a new left back is our first priority what Im saying is that since Gaz had retired, it wouldn't be a bad idea to replace him with a left back. We already have enough right backs in the team.

Indeed. But I still feel Fabio will replace Evra superbly when the time comes. Going forward the kid is even better than his brother. Like his brother though he will have to master defending.

Can anyone think of a reason why SAF would be watching Marseille......like we have to play them in the CL.

REASON: He's not developed in the past few years, seemingly as any interest has stopped for at least two years, we don't need him when we already have Evra and we won't need him when we don't as Fabio should be able to play there. He'd likely cost £8m to £10m, and we'd probably get not much more for Evra (£15m to £18m) which is a bit pointless when we can simply offer Evra a contract that he will gladly accept, of that I'm sure.

Just to correct you, Taiwo will cost nothing. He is leaving Marseille on a free this summer.

Indeed. Only of we intend to make Fabio cover Rafael on the right will we go for such a player.


Today Taiwo has said he is in advanced talks with a club from one of the big leagues, but he didn't reveal who. I'm interested to see where he ends up.
 
Until Evra signs a new contract, we are going to keep hearing about such rumors.
