SoccerAge International can exclusively report that Bayern Munich and Liverpool have set up meetings to discuss a possible transfer of Owen Hargreaves in 2003.

The Canadian-born English international has never attempted to hide his desire to play in the Premiership during some point in his career, but has also insisted that he is determined to see out his 2004-expiring contract with Bayern. What is certain, is that Hargreaves will continue to star at the Olympiastadion next season.

The Bavarian giants are cognizant of the possibility of the hugely-talented midfield all-rounder leaving them for free after that, and - in a classic example of German fore-planning – are already prepared to entertain next summer's offers for the coveted 21-year-old now.

Although Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is also known to be a keen admirer of the youngster, Liverpool are currently leading what may well prove to be a marathon race to sign Hargreaves, as they are scheduled to meet with Bayern representatives within the next two weeks.

I was wondering when this link would materialise on the news-sites.

Its hard to say whether they'll get him or not, because anything can happen in a year. But, as things are; probably.

No quotes, though Soccerage have more credibility than some of the other rags that get pasted on here.

WE should be interested in another defensive midfielder in a year, shouldnt we? Keano will be gone in a couple of years, right? Then we will need cover for Butt.

And Hargreaves will have more chance of playing in Utd's midfield than the Poo's....benchwarmer, same with Arsenal.
