"Van Gaal also revealed that he never wanted to sign Juan Roman Riquelme, which was why he had rarely played the Argentine from the start this season."

This guy Riquelme is gonna be a feckin legend, Van Gaal is a fool of the highest odour :)

Van Gaal does remind me of 'Beaker' from The Muppet Show... you know, Dr Honeydew's assistant who always gets blown up and runs around going 'me me me me me me'...
I guess that about sums him up...

Sounds a bit like Ridsdale saying he only bought Rio as cover for Woodgate

FFS, and people even suggested he would replace SAF in the past!

Rivaldo doesn't fit into his tactics so he releases him on a free. Riquelme was signed once he was already at Barca, apparently against his will  <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" /> so he is no good for him. Let us have him on a free then ;)

WANKER!

He's also said that Kluivert would fit into his plans.
How does this guy get these top jobs

Barca couldn't afford Rivaldo's wages, apparantly.

If the rumours are to be believed, he was on the shortlist to replace Fergie after our top choices such as Hitzfeld turned us down. And that's what worries me about this inflexible criteria that the board seemingly has to replace Fergie...such as the manager must have had sustained success as evidenced by championship titles and European Cups. If you could get someone like Hitzfeld...then terrific. But if the top managers start turning you down, and Van Gaal ends up at the top of your list while up and coming managers such as McClaren aren't even considered, then I think you need to have a second look at your selection process. I hope the board's going to be a little more open-minded and adventurous when Fergie does decide to leave.

Hitzfeld did turn us down so much as say he wouldn't consider any offers from any clubs until his contract at Bayern was up. The media took it as him turning us down because of Sir Alex's plans to retire at the end of last season.

Releasing him was Van Gaal's decision, on a free could only have been the president's.

Tecnicalities. It's not the free I care about.

I sure wouldn't want to have a manager who has Rivaldo and Riquelme available but they don't fit into his tactics. What kind of moronic bullshit is that?

Granted, in Rivaldo's case there were other personal aspects involved but you can't possibly say you don't want/need/like Riquelme!!

The idiot even had a go at Riquelme over the inconvenience of his wife delivering during the season. So, if you want to play for Van Gaal, make sure you plan your babies'arrival for June-July.

When we are talking about look-alikes, this have to be Keown?

There only could be one successor to SAF and thats Sven Erikkson. His is very similar to SAF in tacticaly and mentaly. There is no chance of of anyone else ahead of him
