I am fecking loving this tonight. Some epic hiphop to take my mind off the fact that John Terry has just lifted the European fecking Cup.

Love the whole feel of the album, just incredible. GZA's lyrics and RZA's beats combine so well.

Allow me to demonstrate the skill of Shaolin, the special technique of Shadowboxin'

I love my music but I'm trying to get into a lot of hip hop/instrumentals these days, got loads of classics, Wu-tang, NWA, Dre, 2pac, Biggie, Common, DJ Shadow, Eminem, Nas, Public Enemy, The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest.... some of those I've been listening to for years, some are new to me.

Need some recommendations, whether it's classics or less famous, anything.

You're welcome ;)

Good man.

I've popped into that thread a few times and downloaded some of it. Looking for some classics though, isn't Hectic's thread all underground hip hop? Not that there's anything wrong with it but I'm looking for some must have albums.

Oh ok, I thought because you said less famous that it could do the trick.

Dunno man, try some mobb deep if you haven't already, they've had some of the best tunes.

Pm send your way SC.

Welcome to 1993, Badunk.

I bought Illmatic and 36 Chambers on the same day, about 19 years ago. I listened to Illmatic first and thought it was unbeatable and then put on 36 Chambers, not expecting too much

Shit, some classic shit right here. You just don't get music like this any more, lyrically or conceptually and the whole ambience Rza builds as well...damn. I wish the Wu-Tang would get back together I need one more album of fire from them.

Doggystyle by Snoop Doggy Dogg. Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint by Jay-Z. Any of the main Wu-Tang solo albums from their first round of solo albums, OB4CL, Liquid Swords etc. Big L and Big Pun are musts as well, incredible rappers.

This album, feck. Makes me lose my shit no matter how many times I hear it.

Rza's beats are so grimy but still soulful, he needs to stop acting and start produced some dope beats again.

One of the greats. Back when Rza had the midas touch and every new Wu release was like unwrapping a present on Xmas day.

I've listened to it so many times that I'm surprised I've not killed it. And that's probably a testament to just how great it is.

The best music doesn't age.

Bump'd

Liquid Swords is in the elite of Wu solo releases, at least the ones I've heard (the other two, with respect to RZA and Ghost's efforts, are Tical and Only Built/Cuban Lynx). I guess a lot of people put ODB's up there too, but those three for me stand out above the rest.
