I would say Messi, he has achieved more and is now more part of the first team than Rossi, he is further advanced.

Based on his flair Messi is hailed as the new Ronaldinho, has a buy out clause of £125 Million on par with Ronnie, but there is also a possiblity of him getting burned out before he turns 25. Rossi's progress would be more gradual
lionel messi has had few outings already but who is the more naturally gifted footballer between the two? It would be great if Rossi realizes his potential then we could have a nice quartet of R's (ronaldo,ruud, rooney and rossi) terrorising defenses

Messi is big in Argentina. He got his first international cap recently starting on the bench and immediately got sent off right after he was playing! They hailed him as the new Maradona (number X). Great talent he is, voted the best player of the tournament of the World youth game, where Obi Mikel was the 2nd best I think. Barcelona rated him highly as well, as they put a £125 Million buy-out clause(something like that) in his contract.
Rossi, on the other hand, is the biggest talent from our youth/reserve squad in recent years. Talent wise he is as good as any of our class of '92. In terms of reputation he is no where near where Messi is, but in terms of potential, and from what I have seen so far, there's no reason to believe he couldn't be just as good.

Messi is better than rossi at the mo. Rossi needs to play more first team football.
At this point Messi, he was outstanding at the Under-20s this summer and has more experience. He certainly looks like a star in the making. That said so does Rossi, he just isn't as developed and doesn't have the experience of Messi, yet...

to early to compare....in that case, fabregas as of now is better than both being that he holds down a first XI spot and has done more than either player. But untill the other two get a consistent run in their respective first XI's, we wont know.
