Never thought I could love a band so much, and then not give two shits.
Never realized they had a new album, listening to it on youtube just now and it's truly, truly awful.
Whats worse is I have tickets to see them in November, not sure if I want to see them now that it will be full of tracks from this album...
It's not that bad.
I was of this school too, but i heard one of their new songs and i have to say im pretty disappointed, however, i will reserve judgement until i've heard a few more tracks
I've only listened to it once but it's unbelievably bad. It's mostly made of sounds that I can't figure out and techno-like music.
This is the first hit I got on google. 5 out of 5 stars.

Heh, I was going to download this but the comments I've heard so far have been exactly what everyone in this thread has said.
True, it's not bad music as such...well, it is. But its more the change of direction that they have taken that has made this album the disapointment that it is.
It just doesnt feel like a LP album.
Yeh but LP couldn't stay as LP... nu metal was dead, and rightfully so. It had its flurry in the sun and put out some music that I can look back on fondly but can't really be proud of. I'll always have a soft spot for nu metal because it was what I listened to in my teenage years, but I could never really recommend it to anyone else with a straight face.
If LP wanted to keep going as a band they had to leave that genre behind, and I'm actually quite pleased for them that they've managed to evolve and do that. When I first heard Minutes to Midnight I was absolutely horrified by what I was listening to, but after a few more spins I came to accept that LP just weren't the same anymore... and then I started to really like it.
I've not given the new album a listen yet, but I do like their single. My own music tastes have changed as I've grown older, too, and it seems like LP are doing the same.

Too right, this is utter garbage.
I respect the whole "trying to evolve the style" thing, but I don't like this new album one bit. Still, if they're enjoying what they do, good for them.
I hated Kid A, still consider it Radiohead's worst album but DSOTM? It's insane comparision.
I thought it wasn't allowed to not hate Linkin Park anymore?
Listened to the new album whilst out for a run the other day. I hated pretty much every minute of it. It's not Linkin Park but the problem is it isn't anything else either. In fact about half of it literally is just noise.

Was never a fan of them. My mate sent me one of their new tracks to listen to, kinda sounded like two different songs playing at once, it was shit.

Having now listened to this album I can safely say that I love it.
Just listening to this now; I like it. It's a good new sound actually.
I loved hybrid Theory and Meteora (hell, even my pc's name is meteora). I used to have the originals of Hybrid theory, Reanimation and Meteora.

I liked Minutes to Midnight. It wasn't your classic Linkin Park but it was good and I rate it highly. Problem with the new album is that most of it isn't really music and there are about two dynamic songs there, there rest is just some mix of nothing really.
Just listened to 'The Catalyst'. If that's the best track of the album...

Hybrid Theory was an amazing album, just song after song of catchy brilliance.
