Thought I would see how our line-up stacks up with Real's and Bayern's for the upcoming season.

Manchester United:
----------------Barthez-----------------

-Neville---Brown--Ferdinand---Silvestre-

-Beckham-----Keane-----Veron-----Giggs--

--------------RVN------Ole--------------

Real Madrid:
----------------Casillas-----------------

-Salgado---Helguera---Hierro----R.Carlos-

---Figo----Makelele---Zidane----Solari---

------------Raul------Morientes----------

Bayern Munich:
------------------Kahn-------------------

-Sagnol-----Linke-----Kuffour---Lizarazu-

-Hargreaves--Diesler-Ballack--Ze Roberto-

------------Elber----Santa Cruz----------

Its probably debatable whether these are each sides strongest line-ups, taking into consideration their prefered formations etc. I thought it would be best to go with a simple 4-4-2 for each.

So how do we stack up. Will it be aeuropean championship season for United?

If just comparing these lineup Real still have the most balanced squad, while we are a little bit weak in defence while Bayen is weak in attack. However in real world a team with the best players on paper won't gurantee that they will always win everything. Therefore not only do we have a chance to win the CL, it even won't be a big surprise if the eventual winner is not came from these three teams you mentioned.

Not sure I agree, you only have to look at the winners for the last 5 seasons. Real still look the best, with Bayern a very close second, and being honest, us third, mostly due to the defense - unless they really get their act together this year. And Veron would have to get back to his best.

Is Zé Roberto a Bayern player?
When did they buy him?

They lined up Ze Roberto and Ballack during the latter of last season I think. Fantastic signings they are too.

No comparison at all theres only one United <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

1. Bayern Would never have such a starting line up.
2. United's strongest fromation is not 4-4-2. Real would murder us if we played it.

3. This is how they would really line-up I believe.

Manchester United
Fab Barthez

G Neville Rio Ferdinand Laurent Blanc M Silvestre

Roy Keane

D Beckham Juan Veron Paul Scholes

Ryan Giggs

Ruud Van Nistelrooy

Real Madrid
Carlos Sanchez

M Salgado F Pavon F Hierro R Carlos

Luis Figo Claude Makelele Zidane Santiago Solari

Fernando Morientes Raul

Bayern Muncichen
Oli Kahn

Sammy Kuffour Thomas linke R Kovac B lizarazu

Seb Deisler O Hargreaves M Ballack Ze Roberto

Gio Elber Mehmet scholl

1. Bayern for me is by far the most balanced of these sides. Their bench is similar to their first 11 and their strikeforce and midfield will blend well together in the fashion Leverkursen mastered under ideal conditions. They would be tough to beat.
2. For Real. If we played a 4-5-1 with Giggs supporting Ruud and three in central midfield with Keane free to deal with Zidane we would kill the imo. And our only weakness at the back is in Silvstre's defending. But for them that is a pathetic looking back for in my opinion. Hierro is to slow while Salgado can't defend at all. :p

3. For Us. With a that system and Giggs and Veron in full flow we would be unstoppable. And a centrback partnership of Rio and Blanc would shoot to shit attacks of a passing side bcasue of theri game reading.

4. In short we are invincible. :D
