The story behind this album is filled with uncertainty and unconvincing material.
For people who don't know, Wayne decided that his bridge project between the Carter 3 and Carter 4 was going to be a rock album. The songs released, including the single Prom Queen, were all piss-poor examples of a "rock" feel, and forced his label to push the album over, and over.
The release date was supposed to kick in, in time for the holiday season along with his labelmates "Young Money"'s release record, rumors of a double disk/joint release, turn into rumors Rebirth was going to be scrapped alltogether.
Recently songs began to leak from the album, but with the "Endless material" Wayne claims to have on reserve, it didn't seem an issue.
So the album was pushed once again into February, a few weeks before his hiatus to jail.
Amazon didn't get the memo:
The album is now all over the internet, and upon first listen, it's cingeworthy stuff, much like Kanye West's 808 & Heartbreaks on first spin.
But after giving it another reluctant spin, some of the songs actually have something to them.
Of course the song with Eminem may have had some raised eyebrows, but the tune itself is unbelievable good and well produced.
I'd say to all, it's worth a spin if you're willing to keep an open mind.

Amazon didn't get the memo:
Billboard magazine received an e-mail from a customer of online retailer Amazon.com stating that Amazon.com shipped copies of Rebirth as early as December 14. Amazon shipped about 500 pre-ordered copies and blamed a "shipping error".
