The story behind this album is filled with uncertainty and unconvincing material.

For people who don't know, Wayne decided that his bridge project between the Carter 3 and Carter 4 was going to be a rock album. The songs released, including the single Prom Queen, were all piss-poor examples of a "rock" feel, and forced his label to push the album over, and over.

The release date was supposed to kick in, in time for the holiday season along with his labelmates "Young Money"'s release record, rumors of a double disk/joint release, turn into rumors Rebirth was going to be scrapped alltogether.

Recently songs began to leak from the album, but with the "Endless material" Wayne claims to have on reserve, it didn't seem an issue.

So the album was pushed once again into February, a few weeks before his hiatus to jail.

Amazon didn't get the memo:

Billboard magazine received an e-mail from a customer of online retailer Amazon.com stating that Amazon.com shipped copies of Rebirth as early as December 14. Amazon shipped about 500 pre-ordered copies and blamed a "shipping error".

The album is now all over the internet, and upon first listen, it's cingeworthy stuff, much like Kanye West's 808 & Heartbreaks on first spin.

But after giving it another reluctant spin, some of the songs actually have something to them.

Of course the song with Eminem may have had some raised eyebrows, but the tune itself is unbelievable good and well produced.

I'd say to all, it's worth a spin if you're willing to keep an open mind.

Remember reading about this a while back. Saw it on Demonoid earlier today and thought it must have been a hoax, and more than likely a porn video with some sort of virus attached.

Now im intrigued. Shall put this on the download asap. Im expecting it to be extremely cringe worthy.

Listening to the Lil' Wayne and Eminem track as the new direction was meant to be 'rock'.

It's not. Regardless, I enjoyed the track. Mostly because of Eminem.

I quite liked Prom Queen, and Hot Revolver

Tbf, that turned out to be a great album.

Oh, and I'd be shocked and appaled if a download link for Rebirth was to appear in my PM box ;)

I like some of his songs but most of the time all I can here is "shorty wanna heh the way...HEH! I sey ah hmm a ha humm shorty fly HEH!.."

Which is why I will be giving this some spins, it's not a poor album to be honest, though I expected it to, it's actualy tolerable as a fan of both genres.

Let me know if you still need the link too ps

I'm very pleased* that you're all such law obiding citizens who havent provided a link to an illegal download of said album ;)

Oh God I finally listened to this. It really is shockingly bad.

I mean, it could easily pass as a good piss take. And actually, if it was a piss take it'd be a reasonably good one. Unfortunatly it's not, and I'm sure Wayne thinks he's produced some sort of historical masterpiece that will be talked about for years to come. It wont.
