· The last time United scored this few goals (five) in their opening six league games was 1973/4 season, when they were relegated by Denis Law's backheel
· Excluding the first 3 games of the season, United have never been lower than 10th in the Premiership table. Were 10th after 5 games in 1998/9, and went on to win the title by a point from Arsenal. More tellingly, were 10th after 15 games in 1992/3 and went on to win the title by 10 points from Aston Villa. Right now:

10 Man Utd 6 2 2 2 5 5 0 8

So which little piece of history will be repeated this year?
:D

Not to pick fault, but technically they weren't relegated by Dennis Law's backheel. Because of Utd failure to win the goal scored by Dennis made no difference.
Although i'm starting to worry about our title ambitions this season. I was expecting the Arse to struggle a bit without Pires and Ljundberg but that hasn't happened.
There's still 32 games to play and we've plenty of time to make up for the poor start but we can't really afford to lose again until atleast the new year.

Ever hopeful,

It does suggest something about the two clubs' squad strength ( once United's forte), doesn't it?

Absolutley. We have a squad size but outside the top 18 or so players, the amount of premiership experience is virtually none.
If we can hold on to the players and with the youngsters we've got at the moment, in a year or two, we'll be back to our peak and Arsenal won't be able to touch us

With the availibility of cash & with the price tags of players throughout the world slashed dramatically this summer, we shud not have had to wait for 2 years!

We blew 30 mil pounds on one player when the next most expensive was Anelka at 12 mil!

No disrespect to Rio but for 30 mil, we cud have bought International-Class players for the central defence, full-back & striker's positions quite easily! :(
