From last night. What do you reckon, people? Is Dave giving him what he deserves or way out of line? Insanely entertaining either way.

whyyyyyyyyyyy... go on a talk show... TALK show... if you don't want to talk?

he's either socially retarded or he's trying to drum up some mystique around himself in the laziest effin' way.

It seems more like a planned joke type thing rather than Joaquin deliberately acting indifferent.

 funny, he's turned into a bit of a weirdo but I felt a bit sorry for him but through watching it I felt less and less sorry for him.

Thats what I thought

Anyone who thinks Phoenix was being a weirdo misses the point that we are all now watching a tube video of him and it is about the best publicity he could have got for his new movie

Thats gotta be some sort of a joke that was wierd as feck. Hope he's alright looks like he's had some sort of mental breakdown or something.

Something to do with a documentary he's doing with Casey Affleck I've heard.

It's too bizarre to be real surely.

Dead right - it is all an act but a good one to be fair...

"First of all, some background: as we know all too well at this point, Joaquin Phoenix has grown out a beard and is pursuing a stunty fake career as a rap singer for what is clearly, clearly a mockumentary directed by Casey Affleck."

That explains quite a lot. Very Kaufmanesque.

Poor old Joaquin has started to take himself too seriously hasnt he :(

Absolutely everything on American TV is staged. LEtterman has his jokes written infront of him for fecks sake. He doesnt even read them before the show he always laughs as if its the first time reading his palm card.

The Phoenix thing has to be the most ridiculous publicity stunt of all time. Just sick what these so called celebrities will do for the press. This just symbolizes everything that is wrong with Hollywood.

Very interesting what he did...He managed to fool a lot of people what with the retirement announcement followed by two years of no films, features or future projects, as well as all of his team rejecting calls and offers for him over that period to increase plausibility.

On October 27, 2008, he announced his retirement from film in order to focus on his rap music career.[1][2] However, the announcement turned out to be part of Phoenix's acting role in a mockumentary directed by Casey Affleck, I'm Still Here.[3]

Were you using that post in conjunction or comparison to mine?

Neither.

I want to know if anyone has seen said documentary.

Lettermans face in that freeze frame just makes me think of South Park.

The film wasn't very good. Although Joaquin was awesome in it mind you, it was just like "ugh.....whats the point in this"

I think Charlie Sheen watched it, realized Joaquin got a lot of attention for basically performing his life and wanted a part of it.
