Absolutely everything on American TV is staged. LEtterman has his jokes written infront of him for fecks sake. He doesnt even read them before the show he always laughs as if its the first time reading his palm card.

The Phoenix thing has to be the most ridiculous publicity stunt of all time. Just sick what these so called celebrities will do for the press. This just symbolizes everything that is wrong with Hollywood.
Very interesting what he did...He managed to fool a lot of people what with the retirement announcement followed by two years of no films, features or future projects, as well as all of his team rejecting calls and offers for him over that period to increase plausibility.
